Never got the hype around him, I've never watched him pre WWE and never thought he had 'it' since his debut

He was ace in TNA and ROH. One of the best around.

According to Wrestling Observer he asked for his release.

If you aren't already I recommend Tony Schiavone's podcast. They're working through various PPVs and note worthy Nitro's. It's great listening to his insight. That all the announcers were just as in the dark as the viewer throughout Bash at the Beach 1996 as to who the 3rd man was for example. Tony then saying he hoped the police beat the strawberry float out of the fan who jumped the barricade too. :slol:

Never really been one for podcasts, but that does sound pretty interesting. Just found a list of past editions so I'll definitely check them out this week.

I just started listening to this and can also vouch for how interesting it is. Honestly the decisions WCW were making at the time are farcical. Having said that, a lot of the booking sounds a lot like the current WWE booking.

:( Aries

He could have easily fit into the intercontinental scene and be a higher mid carder at the very least but no they leave stuck him in another terrible version of that wwe style of crusierweights.

The cruiserweights is another failure for that kind of division. I don't see any recovery for it. I don't feel that style fits in the WWE product aside from say one match on a PPV.

Having the cruiser weights completely separate to everything else is a bad idea too, Aries had only a handful of people he could possibly feud with. The indies and NJPW are booming at the moment so I think he'll do pretty well for himself.

On another note AJ Styles won the US title at MSG last night!

Really looking forward to Great Balls Of Fire, in like 24 hours time. The card is really good! They've done a phenomenal job building up Joe vs Lesnar, I just hope it's allowed to run into double digit minutes. Rollins vs Wyatt has potential, as does Banks vs Bliss. The past couple of Strowman / Reigns matches have been really good. Strowman can actually wrestle now (some unexpected moves from him in the Apollo Crews match on RAW this week) and they seem to have great chemistry.

I caught up with Slammiversary, and was completely blown away. The four way tag team match was just so good. And that commentator's match was better than it had any right to be. Filled with nods to the past, and more than a little Broken Hardy reminiscent.

Started watching Lucha Underground's second half of season 3. Can't believe WWE passed on The Mack, because of conditioning concerns (and allegedly picked up Apollo Crews instead). He fought for that entire episode. What a match. Almost 45 minutes, and I was never bored or reaching for my phone. Mundo is so talented too.

I loved the end to last week's NXT. Asuka is just amazing. It's going to break my heart seeing her lose to Ember Moon. I'd rather see her drop the title to Cross, especially after a match like that.

Can't get over "Great Balls of Fire" kicking in as background music to this thing.

Is this Vic Joseph commentator new? I've never heard of him before, unless he does Main Event or something.

Is it any wonder 205 Live is dying on its arse when its main feud is relegated to a pre-show affair interrupted by a commercial break!

Didn't expect that result with the Rollins hype from the videogame cover. But a much needed win for Wyatt, that win, loss, draw statistic graphic for him floating around on Twitter is shocking.

Rollins will get his win back somewhere. 50/50 booking.

I've forgotten how many times Miz/Ambrose have exchanged victories in the last year.

Not so much 50/50 booking for Bray Wyatt...

Was it earlier this year or last that a fan held up a sign that read "Eater of Pinfalls"

Can't remember when it was, but it was depressingly apt.

What a tag team match! Great to see so much time devoted to a tag team match. It feels really rare with WWE on the main roster.

The last 5 minutes of that finish and crash was hilarious. There needs to be a gif of Roman flying into the back of that ambulance after missing the Spear. Priceless.

Quality acting.

Oh dear, Lesnar and Joe is looking like a squash job. They're wheeling out the jobbers to fill time...
