People may tune in to see how he wins it. I mean WCW gave away that Mick Foley was winning the title and that basically backfired big time on them.

Yeah I'm sure people will tune in, just to see Styles in action and as you said, what happens. I was reading that whenever Styles isn't in action (and is being saved for a dark match to curb the amount of people leaving before 205 Live finishes), ratings dip. Apparently ratings typically don't do well when Raw and SD is in London, and SD did bad last week, so they're possibly a little concerned, and that's why things have seemingly changed for this coming week. Which is great for the UK crowd, and people watching the show who appreciate actual wrestling. I'd be shocked if it isn't the best match we've seen Jinder in yet.

A day of unexpected news for sure.

Regarding AJ, I can see him winning, facing Lesnar, dropping the title before the December India tour to a heel, who in turn loses to Jinder in India.

Or AJ just loses on Tuesday. That's my backup.

A legend that still has ok to good matches going up against probably the best in the world at the moment at one of the biggest shows of the year, after a much talked about online feud in Jericho’s first non WWE match in nearly 20 years doesn’t sound very good? That’s ok, enjoy Reigns V Lesnar at Wrestlemania. :simper:

Anyone here listen to The Lapsed Fan podcast? They just put up a 6+ hour (!) breakdown of Wrestling With Shadows/Montreal in general. Some of the humour is a bit juvenile for me but the level of detail is unreal and it's great for commutes.

Plus JP's Vince McMahon impression is outstanding. I thought it was actually Vince when I first started listening.

WWE RAW Manchester Tapings

In results from the Manchester Arena, taped before a sell-out crowd in Manchester, England...

In the opening MizTV segment it was announced by Kurt Angle that Braun Strowman would face The Miz later in the show.

In the ring, the crowd wanted Elias to sing "Wonderwall". With WWE clearly not having the license for that, Elias opted for an original song instead.

Match 1: In the opening contest, Jason Jordan defeated Elias in a Guitar-on-a pole match. Elias grabbed the guitar first, but it was Jordan who used it first.

Match 2: Asuka beat an unnamed local wrestler. Alicia then named Asuka as a member of her Team RAW at Survivor Series.

Before Samoa Joe vs Titus O’Neil could take place, Joe jumped both Titus and Apollo Crews on the ramp, Joe then demanding some better competition. Finn Balor came out.

Match 3: Samoa Joe fought Finn Balor to a double Count Out. They continued fighting up the ramp before eventually being broken up by referees. Kurt Angle reveled both would be on Team RAW at the Survivor Series.

Seth Rollins and Dean Ambrose vs. Sheamus and Cesaro for the Tag Team Championship was announced for later.

Backstage Kurt Angle told his son Jason Jordan that he would be the fifth member of Team RAW at Survivor Series.

Match 4: Bayley and Sasha Banks beat Nia Jax and Alicia Fox when Sasha tapped out Alicia. After the match, Team Captain Alicia Fox said she needed Banks on her team at Survivor Series. There was a lot of singing for Bayley throughout.

Match 5: Braun Strowman fought The Miz (w/Bo Dallas, Curtis Axel) to an apparent No Contest when all and sundry ran in. Bo and Curtis repeatedly tried to interfere but Braun fought them off, which then brought out Kane and both men proceeded to trade punches, with Braun ultimately throwing Kane over the top rope. Braun then hit his Bulldog inspired running poweslam on The Miz.

Renee Young interviewed Dean Ambrose and Seth Rollings backstage about their title match later tonight, defending against Sheamus and Cesaro.

Enzo came out and ran his gums until he was interrupted by Kalisto, who was out to watch the match. Enzo continued talking until he was interrupted again by Pete Dunne. General Manager Kurt Angle then came out and said it would be The Cruiserweight against The Bruiserweight, to a big reaction.

Match 6: Pete Dunne pinned Enzo Amore with a pump handle slam.

A video package aired for Brock Lesnar vs. Jinder Mahal They revealed Brock would return to RAW next week.

Charly Caruso interviewed RAW Women's champion Alexa Bliss backstage.

Match 7: Seth Rollins and Dean Ambrose vs. Cesaro and Sheamus was interrupted by Big E's voice over the PA, before New Day's music played and they made their way out through the crowd. They asked the crowd if they were enjoying another 3 hours of this B-show. They bragged that SmackDown attacked RAW and the B show did nothing in return. They said this was "Under Siege Part 2." The entire RAW locker room then came out with Kurt Angle. As all of this chaos was going on, Sheamus nailed a distracted Ambrose with the Brogue Kick to capture the RAW Tag Team championships once more.

I have been listening to Tony Schiavone's podcast this last couple of weeks and watching some of the PPVs alongside. It's a great podcast and Tony comes across well acknowledging his own mistakes and short comings very fairly.

I'm 90% through Hog Wild 96 at present. Tony and his podcast mate gave this a 5/10 but honestly I am pleasantly surprised. I never got to watch WCW PPVs back in the day as I was only able to watch Nitro and there were a couple of treats on this card. Dean Malenko and Benoit had a pretty good match that was just slightly spoiled by the finish. It's the first Benoit match I have bothered to watch since what happened as I have tended to avoid it. Its uncomfortable to see how good he was.

Flair had a typical match with Eddie Guerrero but Eddie came out of the loss looking quite strong. That was an interesting match to watch, especially knowing what Eddie was destined for.

Harlem Heat and The Steiners had a good match. There was some incredible work from Booker and Stevie to get the crowd riled which brought out the money shot of the revving bike engines!

Generally enjoyed it so far, and refreshingly it looks so different. I'm not suggesting WWE do a PPV in front of a biker crowd but with the network the really could experiment a bit more. I guess Starrcade will be a step in that direction at least.

That Starrcade isn't even airing on the Network seems like a massive missed opportunity to me. To me that would have shifted subscriptions if they did it properly. Instead they've just cynically slapped the Starrcade name on a house show.

Next show that will at least look out of the ordinary will be NXT: Takeover on the 18th November. You'll have the two rings, double cage, and shark cages that I'm presuming will comprise the set.

Then there's RAW: 25 YEARS from the Manhattan Center. Looking at the floor plan it appears to be the same as in 1993 (entrance on the right of the hard camera instead of the left).

Reigns isn't even in the match. They put Jason Jordan as the quick pin.

Judging by what happened on Raw it's going to be new day vs Shield.

WWE SmackDown Tapings

Smackdown opened up with a video feature on AJ Styles vs. Jinder Mahal.

Shane McMahon came out and thanked everyone for watching the A show and promises Daniel Bryan will return next week. McMahon says Smackdown is ready for any retaliation. He brings out New Day, who say they didn't intend to cause the Shield to lose the Raw Tag titles but that's what happens when you are under siege. Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn come out and knock Shane, saying Raw will beat them because of him. Shane tells them they have no loyalty and makes a match, Zayn vs. Kofi Kingston for right now.

Match 1: Kofi Kingston pinned Sami Zayn. Owens tried to get involved but was run off by New Day.

Renee Young interviewed Jinder Mahal. He promised to beat AJ tonight and then will take out Brock Lesnar at the PPV.

They aired a Bludgeon brothers vignette.

Match 2: Randy Orton pinned Rusev with an RKO Out OF NOWHERE! He joined Team SmackDown officially.

James Ellsworth was looking for Carmella but found Becky Lynch instead. He knocked her saying if RAW was there, she'd hide behind him because they are in Manchester, not Womanchester. Lynch told him he made a ballsy statement, but he doesn't have any.

Match 3: James Ellsworth vs. Becky. All the other SmackDown female stars were around ringside. Ellsworth tried to escape but was tossed back in by Charlotte. He begged off and tried to kiss Becky's hand but she maked him tap out to the Disarmher. Carmella was so disgusted after that she superkicked him. She then walked out alone.

They ran a promo announcing The Shield will return to RAW Monday.

Carmella spoke to Shane McMahon backstage when Natalya entered the room. She offered to face Alexa and work the Women's Elimination Tag Team Match. Shane announced Natalya vs. Charlotte for next week's SmackDown.

Match 4: Chad Gable and Shelton Benjamin defeated The Usos by Count Out. They played up a potential injury to Jey.

They announced New Day vs. Kevin Owens & Sami Zayn, Sin Cara vs. Baron Corbin and Natalya vs. Charlotte.

Main Event: J Styles pinned Jinder Mahal with the Phenomenal Forearm to capture the WWE championship.

Makes sense, with The bar winning the Raw tag titles, virtually every Champion versus Champion match at Survivor Series was heel against heelbefore Styles won the title.

Genuinely shocked. Wish I'd stayed up for it now. I just hope it's not a case that it gets returned relatively quickly. It wouldn't make much sense for Styles to lose it for the rematch, he overcame the interference of Mahal's cronies to get it. It felt a pretty definitive win. Styles made Mahal look good though, something Orton nor Nakamura was able to do.
