I assume it's the ropes that have done that to Bryan? I guess it's been a while and they're not soft.

I was like that before it. But it was a fun event and was something to have on on a Friday night. They should do more events at this time of day. It does change how I watch and enjoy them.

If this is true then I hope he's basically getting compensation like the women allegedly are.

Is that Titus thing legit???  I remember at one of the Rumbles a few years ago he was meant to be eliminated quickly to set a new record but managed to strawberry float it up so I thought it was a rib when I first saw it.

Started watching late, just finished now. Amazing, not always for the right reasons. Some of the botches were amazing. Mahal. Titus. Loved Jericho's interview too. Poor Mojo. So many of the matches I expected to be shorter / cheaper, weren't. Loved the Ladder match, loved Styles vs Nakamura (heel Nakamura is so funny), it was more immediate and pacier than their WM bout.

The Rumble itself was hard going. Very mixed bag, lots of amazing spots, but lots of insufferable dreck. Bryan's chest looked sore. Such an enjoyable show though, sped along compared to 'Mania.

Just finished as well. Overall a decent show with some odd botches. Lashley made at least two. Jericho did look like he had put weight on but then he probably wasn’t expecting to be wrestling until a few weeks ago.

What was the explanation for the big space around the ring, that it was for the royal family? If so why weren’t they using it?

Did anyone spot the waiter, or butler with white gloves carrying a tray of refreshments at one point? I like the non-US shows, it's interesting to see the differences in the crowd and reactions. I also found it amusing when Taker put Rusev and English into the casket, the camera cut to a girl wearing a top saying something like peace and love, jumping around excitably.

The House of Saud not happy with WWE:

The General Sport Authority would like to apologize to the viewers and attendees of last night’s WWE event that took place in Jeddah, over the indecent scene involving women that appeared as an ad before a segment. It would like to confirm it’s total disapproval of this, in the shadow of its commitment to eliminate anything that goes against the communities values.

The authority has made sure to ban showing of any segment that involves women wrestling or any scenes related to it, and stipulated that to the company (WWE). The authority also disapproved any promotional stuff with pictures or videos showing women in an indecent way, and emphasized on commitment of this rule. And it’s a commitment that the authority would still commit to forever in all of it’s events and programs.

Not to worry though, WWE can put it right when they go back this November for another PPV.

Is this the ad where they are all singing, I did wonder when that was played on the network whether it would have aired at the arena or in the stadium.

Apparently on state TV it went to black when the Backlash commercials aired so nobody on TV even saw it, just those in the building.

The commentators made a point to refer to how "progressive" Jeddah is as a city as often as possible, and yet they still have to apologise for broadcasting images of women? Crazy.

I wonder i assume wwe is already broadcast in Saudi Arabia, if so how do they get around the women wrestling, women who accompany the men to the ring, the women who interview, announce in the ring and all the backstage stuff. That’s also ignoring important on screen women like Stephanie McMahon.

As far as I’m aware WWE airs Live via OSN Sports which broadcasts over satellite in Saudi Arabia, Yemen, Iraq, Bahrain and Qatar.

I think the difference here was that Saudi Arabia was paying for this event, on home soil, and it was airing on basic state TV.

Some more info on World of Sport:

- Will run for ten 60 minute episodes.
- The World of Sport Championship will be defended every week.
- Will air on a Saturday evening, exact time to be determined.
- Backstage interviews will feature.
- Recorded in front of a live audience of real wrestling fans at Epic studios in Norwich.

WOS Wrestling will be jam-packed with the UK’s top names in the sport, competing in a fun-filled evening of family Sports Entertainment.

Tom McLennan, Creative Director, ITV Studios Entertainment:

“There is a massive indie wrestling scene in the UK and a strong nostalgia for the wrestling shows of our youth. WOS Wrestling will combine the best of the past with incredible talent available today to make a fun, exciting and thrilling show that the whole family can enjoy.”

Fingers crossed this isn’t over produced to buggery in the intervening months between filming and air date. Though they’ve called it a Sport, which is a start I suppose...and then McMahonised it in the same sentence.

Actually, they’ve hit all bases (Sport, Sports Entertainment, wrestling, FUN FOR ALL THE FAMILY). Needs a “wholesome” in there.

I haven't watched SmackDown yet, but basically bugger all storyline progression happened on RAW this week outside of them saying the referee made a mistake at the Royal Rumble and it was Roman Reigns that should have won. They went to Canada and had some matches (brilliant main event between Rollins and Balor). Great crowd though, and I rather liked the stage being closer to the ring (smaller building), made it feel a little different.
