Which level is playable in the AiTD demo?

Hopefully they didn't include the absolutely dreadful car section. :x

The opening I think...you awake (drugged?) and amnesiac?

I only got about 10minutes in - and forgot to save. Didn't seem that bad, but the bloody blinking was horried!

Ah yes, I didn't bother blinking & ended up getting an achievement.

The rest of that level is actually pretty good..it goes downhill when you have to steal/borrow a car though.

I've added a new posting feature labelled 'Condense' which can be used to hold large amounts of text, screenshots etc to ease scrolling through big opening posts. See it in on the 1st page of this thread.

The recently released N+ level pack has some epic level titles.

'the pie is also a lie' and 'red rings of death' are two that spring to mind.

Good job on the first post Garth, I really like the way that you've made it easier to scroll through by putting the long lists into spoiler boxes.

Duke Nukem 3D XBLA Passes Cert, Coming Soon?

The achievement list for 3D Realms' downloadable Xbox 360 port of Duke Nukem 3D has appeared on the internet via Achieve360Points.com, a sign that traditionally indicates the game has passed certification and is due for release soon.

Per the Xbox Live Arcade standard, the classic PC shooter sports a total of 200 achievement points. Included in the 12 achievements are rewards for tipping a stripper, stepping in excrement, beating the game's various missions in singleplayer or co-op, and hitting a specific number of kills in the ranked online Dukematch multiplayer mode.

Update: 3D Realms' George Broussard has confirmed to Shacknews that the Xbox Live Arcade edition of Duke Nukem 3D is indeed complete, has passed certification and is due out "soon."

"We officially passed final cert on our first try Friday, August 15th," said Broussard. When asked about a possible price point, he noted that it will be "about what you'd expect."

While Broussard's comments are open to interpretation, most XBLA releases are priced between 800 ($10) and 1200 Microsoft Points ($15).

The complete achievement list follows

1. Piece of Cake - 25 Points -- Complete "L.A. Meltdown" on any difficulty or in co-op.

2. Let's Rock - 25 Points -- Complete "Lunar Apocalypse" on any difficulty or in co-op.

3. Come Get Some - 25 Points -- Complete "Shrapnel City" on any difficulty or in co-op.

4. Game Over - 25 Points -- Complete "The Birth" on any difficulty or in co-op.

5. Duke's Mighty Foot - 10 Points -- Step on 40 enemies after using the Shrinker on them.

6. Looks Like Cleanup on Aisle 4 - 10 Points Step in a pile of excrement.

7. Shake It Baby - 10 Points Tip an exotic dancer.

8. Oomph, Uugh, Where is it? - 10 Points -- Find 70 secret areas.

9. Alien Maggots are Gonna Pay - 10 Points -- Finish the "Hollywood Holocaust" level in under 3 minutes.

10. Gonna Rip Em' a New One - 10 Points -- Get 100 total kills in ranked Dukematch games (Online).

11. See You in Hell - 15 Points -- Get 250 total kills in ranked Dukematch games (Online).

12. Hail to the King, Baby - 25 Points -- Earn respect and get 500 total kills in ranked Dukematch games (Online).

Finished Braid earlier. Overall, it was a truly breathtaking game. Ingenious puzzles, a clever story and a wonderful visual style.

Looking forward to the Star Wars Force Unleashed demo. I want to try that game before i buy it. I may not be buying it if it's bad. But it looks pretty cool.

I tried downloading the Ninja Gaiden 2 demo just now but it told me it's "not available in this region". Does anybody know what region I should switch to so I can get it? It's also not even listed among the demos in this thread's OP, so I wonder what's going on... Is it just a ghost living inside my dashboard?

A Viva Piñata: Trouble in Paradise demo is coming this week apparently.

I think I'll go make an official thread for this game...

I'm hearing dodgy things about Galaga Legions, and there's not a single review up yet.

I liked the trial but I'm not a shooter expert so I just liked it because it was easier than the Ikaruga trial. Still too hard to warrant a purchase mind.

Any info on the free Fable Pub Games from Game online? Not yet received a code from them. Am I the only one?

I've had a go of the Galaga Legions trial, but I'm not sure about it. I only tried it with the automatic firing and the controls seemed okay, but I suppose I'd need to use manual firing to really see how they get on.

I was originally hoping to get this today, but I think I'll keep my points for now.

Toppling Geometry Wars 2 from its throne is now the goal for any stripped-down Live Arcade shooter, and Namco Bandai deserves praise for delivering a game that comes within grasping distance of this lofty aim. That Galaga Legions arrives only a few weeks after Geometry Wars 2 hopefully won't count against it, with players left destitute by the buffet of quality titles over the last month. The two games actually go very well together, similar in focus and approach but varied enough to scratch distinctly different shoot-'em-up itches. It's really only the comparative lack of variety that keeps Galaga Legions from bettering its rival, and even that won't be a hindrance to dedicated shmup addicts. If you've still got MS Points to spare, it's yet another compelling purchase.

8/10

Glad I was right about this one.
