Saying absolutely nothing to the police till you speak to a lawyer first is common sense regardless of where you are in the world.

The second you open your mouth without representation you are opening your self up to a possible heap of gooseberry fool. Yes there are countries where you have no chance of a fair trial even if you are innocent but why risk it?

Innocent or not get lawyered up before they question you if you are able. So many people have been railroaded to admit guilt where there is none through the years, here and abroad it's just not worth the risk.
