I used to go to Thorpe park a lot when I was in secondary school since it's relatively close to where I live and there was a local bus that ran to it from Staines. My favourite ride was X for some reason. Never went on Stealth because I'm a pussy.

Was very cool being able to get onto all the rides with almost no queueing, but we did find that we had pretty much done it all in about an hour and half and there didn't seem much point hanging around.

Also "Saw" proper hurt my head/neck, and the GF was in so much pain afterwards she went to the Doctors who said she had whiplash. She was off work for a week. :dread: Really don't think that ride is safe with how jerky it is.

Saw is awesome but yeah it is strawberry floating uncomfortable.

Oddly, it was more comfortable when I was a fat bastard. When I was far it was fine, I went there after weight loss and was like the strawberry float is this.

Well, at Alton Towers anyway

She's too cheap for Chipping Sodbury Mop, Alton Towers would never take her.

Disney do it. Don't think our parks could afford it or it'd break and not be fixed after a month

Best ride? I don't do many, but I loved what used to be the Sonic Spinball at Alton Towers. And you can't go wrong with some River Rapids. Well... you can in the UK 'cus all the ones I've been on never seem that great. There was an awesome on at Orlando that I loved. Water gun platforms were set up at one section so you fire down onto those on the ride.

Well I had a great day at Thorpe Park yesterday, got there at opening time and left just before they closed. Managed to get on every single ride I wanted to go on:
Saw 8/10 probably the best ride of the day with a terrifying drop and some really fun turns
The Walking Dead 3/10 seems to only go round and round in circles was pretty boring
Nemesis Inferno 8/10 Apparently this came before Nemesis in Alton Towers, just has a few less turns. I did feel like throwing up during some of the turns lol and felt really really dizzy after I got off it lol
River Rapids ride 4/10 not as good as the Alton Towers one, very short ride although I did manage to get a splash
Swarm 8.5/10 I nearly fainted on this one lol, surprisingly because it looks slow compared to the other rollercoasters. I believe its called greying out. My vision went grey/dark and I kept thinking to myself that my eyes are open but how come everything is getting dark? This lasted for a few seconds and my mate also felt the same during one of the g force inducing spins.
Tidal Wave 10/10 Got totally wet on this and was perfect since it was so hot yesterday
Colossal 8/10 The endless cork screw turn was amazing

I was too scared to go on Stealth so feeling rather gutted about that but never mind. I think it just looks worse than it is, very intimidating.

Overall a great day out, queues were at most 50mins for us. At the end of the day they dropped down to just 25mins. Felt like I was back at school because most of the people in the queues were from school trips. Anyway I feel I should make going to theme parks a more regular thing again because they are still so much fun.
Will go to Blackpool in August to experience Pepsi Max and Icon.

Another one from Chessington was the Bubbleworks - that was/is my sister's favourite. Not really my thing, if anything I was a bit scared of it :shifty:

My favourite dark ride is probably the Derren Brown Ghost Train at Thorpe Park but it breaks down fairly frequently, I assume because it’s fairly tech intensive.

I wanted to go on that but tickets sold out for that ride straight away as you had to book a time slot.

I've been on it like 5 times and not once have there been no technical issues. It's a great idea but it breaks way way way too much

Glad you enjoyed it. Nemesis Inferno definitely did not come before Nemesis at Alton Towers, it came much later.

I also enjoyed your scoring system: Saw, probably the best ride, 8/10; Swarm, greyed out, 8.5/10. :msgreen:

Thanks. Haha yes I had to give Swarm an extra 0.5 for the greying out :o

The Nemesis spinoff ride Sub Terra at Alton Towers was fun but it wasn’t around very long, only about 3 years or so.

Annoyingly I never got to ride it before it was closed. It’s an odd one, I believe it was closed as part of cutbacks after the smiler incident caused crowds to drop significantly at the park and just never reopened.

Yeah I think you’re right, they did a little downsizing after the Smiler thing happened. I think I struck lucky as I hadn’t been to the park in years but ended up going for a friends 30th birthday around 2013.

Interestingly, you have never actually been on that ride, you just believe you have.

Is that the one with the row of seats facing inward that dropped through the floor?

I only went on it once, but it was great fun. When the lights dropped and something started brushing the back of our legs, my missus absolutely screamed the place down, it was strawberry floating hilarious.
