PostTheme parks in the U.K. what's your favourite ride?

I've been to Alton towers countless times. But will be going to Thorpe Park for the first time on Friday.
For anyone who's been on Oblivion in Alton Towers how's does the drop compare to Stealth at Thorpe Park?
Oblivion is apparently 55m high with most of it underground and Stealth is 61m but all above ground so looks way way more terrifying. I'm just wondering how they compare in terms of the near vertical drop section.

Oblivion is probably my favourite but I've only really been to Alton Towers. I do remember that nothing afterwards came close to the adrenaline hit that Oblivion gave me so all the other rides felt tame for the rest of the day.

Stealth is much more about the initial acceleration, the very beginning of the ride. The drop at the other end is almost nothing in comparison.

I find oblivion a bit boring. The drop is good but I’m not really into one trick pony coasters. I much prefer stealth for this reason as it offers more.

The Smiler is great. Probably the best I’ve been on the uk.

I would love to see colossus rebuilt as that is a massive head killer yet the layout is great.

Nemesis always ranks highly for me.

I want to ride Icon at Blackpool, that’s widely recognised as the best coaster in Britain.

Icon at Blackpool Pleasure Beach is great as is Valhalla.

At Alton Towers I really like 13, at least the first time you ride it, Nemesis is a classic and Rita is fun too. Smiler is good but it’s pretty intense, a little too much perhaps.

At Thorpe Park I like Saw although it can be a bit of a rough ride and Tidal Wave is a lot of fun but be warned you get soaked.

Stealth is a bit of a one trick pony although the initial launch is impressive, I actually prefer Swarm.

I’ve only ridden it once but Shockwave at Drayton Manor is worth checking out too, partly as a curio with it being the only stand up roller coaster in the UK.

Last time I went to a UK theme park, oblivion was the newest ride, so it's between that and nemesis.

Saw is the best ride at Thorpe Park, in large part because it uses those harnesses that don't have a buckle, so a small part of you thinks you're going to die.

Don't think I've been to a theme park since 2006.

Haha how random. My favourite rollercoaster of all time is The Missile that used to be at the old American Adventure theme park. Sadly that closed down ages ago, but last year I realised it was bought by Pleasurewood Hills in Lowestoft, and rebranded 'Wipeout'. I went on it yesterday. It's still strawberry floating amazing.

Thanks tbh the initial acceleration isn't the bit that bothers me. It's the massive stomach churning drop that in gooseberry fool scared about lol. But if it's a similar drop to Oblivion then I should be fine as been on oblivion many many times. I just can't imagine the oblivion actually being 35m below ground if it only stands 20m high.

Same actually and that was Universal Studios in Japan which had no scary rides

Stealth doesn't feel much like a traditional roller coaster (the first 3 seconds are the best part of it!) but it's fantastic and my favourite at Thorpe Park. The sense of speed as you go from 0 to 80mph in under 3 seconds is hard to compare.

The queues at Thorpe Park will be ridiculous this Friday with good weather and schools mostly finished / universities all finished so the Fast Pass will be essential. You'd definitely need that if you want to go on all the main rides + have time for some of the less intense but still good options like Rush, Zodiac and Vortex.

Thanks unfortunately all the fast track passes have sold out for Friday already :(
I'll get there early with my mate and go straight to the back of the park and work out way towards the front in order to beat the queues.

I loved that when I was 11

Haven't actually been to a theme park in the UK for a while.
Oblivion was amazing the first time you went on it. Loved the speed of Stealth, went on it about 5 times one day along with several trips on Nemesis and Collosus. My head was spinning when I tried to go to sleep that night

Nemesis is my favourite. At Thorpe Park I like Swarm the most.

The VR Ghost Train at Thorpe Park is excellent... if it’s working, it breaks down a lot.

That's actually the last one I went on (when it was at American Adventure), was probably over 25 years ago now.

Still have the on-ride photo somewhere around the house.

I was always a fan of Air at Alton Towers.

But the best has to be the Smiler by a country miler.

The Pepsi Max Big one in Blackpool is also great.

Never dreamed of going to Thorpe Park, too many people down south.
