I think most people couldn't be bothered if not anything else to contact whoever because something is wrong. I've gained a lot of confidence over the years and always respected that business like relationship, so I would bring it up yeah.

I mean I just fell down the stairs and there happens not to be a hand rail there, the causality isn't a massive stretch.

If landlords legit don't care about their property then yeah you're a bit stuffed, so it kind of depends on who you're dealing with.
