In terms of usability, Tumblr really is the biggest pile of absolute strawberry floating gooseberry fool I've ever encountered. EVERYTHING is wrong with it.

It's fine if you know the Tumblr and want to see things in date order...anything else though

You make people buy their own birthday cakes?

Under the mattress is the only safe place.

I've spent all my money, that is why I have to use credit cards.

Yes?

Uugh and just when Twitter was a valid alternative to Facebook, knowingly advertising to everyone. I don't give a strawberry float what other people "like".

As for the cake stuff, the last contract job I was sacked from because "lol you'd work better as part of a team :simper:", the other freelancer brought in something whack like cranberry and bacon brownies. I've hated him ever since because it's these sycophantic weirdos who tend to "fit in" and keep those jobs in open plan offices, that strawberry float my mind because I actually want a sensible work environment. I guess people are just trying to pretend this isn't 9-5 hell and they don't want to gouge their eyeballs out while their department manager celebrates loudly about "winning" interdepartmental arguments.

Edit: omg what a great word from quick spellcheck, "obsequious"; fawning, being complacent in servitude.

I guess you don't dig cranberry and bacon treats.

I don't eat cakes so strawberry float bringing in loads for other folk. Thankfully never been in an office where this is done anyway, surely it makes more sense to have your actual friends in the office give you stuff and the others just wish you happy birthday?

Or, more traditionally, hit the pub after and the birthday person can be bought a drink.

It doesn’t have to literally be cakes. Some people bring in a mix of cakes, savoury (sausage rolls etc) and fruit.

The point is that everyone gets to have a treat whenever there is a birthday in the office, rather than just one person getting shitfaced for free once a year.

My office has a spreadsheet with everyone's birthday on it, so there's always a little whip round and a card for people whose birthday it is, and they bring in cake. I strawberry floating hate birthday's, and barely like them being acknowledged by friends, so I'm really not looking forward to having everyone gather round for mine in the office. On the plus side, I'll bring in something savoury that I've made myself, instead of cake, so at least there'll be a change from the usual cakes and chocolate.

Hurricane – get to strawberry float, it’s just a strong wind

Blizzard – get to strawberry float, it’s just a bit of snow

Tornado – get to strawberry float, it’s just a twisty wind

Snarknado – get to strawberry float, it’s just a movie

A woman tweeted ESB networks (Irish electricity folk who fix broken lines etc nationwide) this morning complaining she had no electricity and that ESB should have made 'precautions' because they knew a storm was coming? What an absolute dick head! :x

I actually want to know what precautions she would suggest. Did she just want a flyer thrown in her letterbox or some kind of wind defense system installed around powerlines?

Job applications asking for 'Rock star employees'.

This seems to be increasingly common amongst creative sector roles; I assume it'll be fine if I turn up with a big bag of coke and a hooker on my arm, then.
