Admitting to liking Nirvana, or any kind of vaguely alternative music, before Cobain's death was pretty much a kicking waiting to happen where I grew up.

Apologies to those of you who were actually old enough to appreciate those bands first time around, no offense intended. I guess my issue is more with the whole death = greatness mentality some people have.

Ah right. That's fair enough. I'm sure there were similar "cool" things when I was a kid but Freddie was contemporary and still alive so hadn't risen to the those heights yet

Being old, and getting older. From this post I have realised:

1. I didn't realise Queen were cool again
2. I was too old for Wayne's World
3. I was in to Queen in my early teens, but I'm so old I might as well be dead.

Also, horrendous football/sporting clichés and comments.

"We were able to get out there and play football".

Gideon wrote:"I was into Queen before Shaun of the Dead/Wayne's World". No, you were not. Neither was I. If you were, you'd never have to say that. Also, you were probably about seven when Wayne's World came out. The same goes for "I was into Nirvana before Kurt Cobain snorted buckshot". Lies.

I was raised on Queen as my mum has always been a huge fan. She tells me she used to put headphones on the bump while she was pregnant with me, and play Queen songs. Consequently I have been a fan for as long as I can remember.

When people bitch about other people, especially their so called friends, behind their backs. Maybe I'm just super tolerant but too many times now I've heard people say things like "I hate person X, he's such an annoying twat" etc, only for me to think the person they're on about is pretty sound. We're none of us perfect.

I mean don't get me wrong people annoy me and what not but I tend to just let it go rather than have a bitch about it.

You might be older than me (I'm guessing your older than 40 going by what you said?). You've made me feel happy :D Thank you.

Beer snobs - The type that will spend all night criticising my choice of drinks or, specifically my choice not drink beer. I drink alchoholic drinks that I like and gets me drunk, who gives a flying strawberry float what it is? I don't like beer, it makes me ill so get over yourselves you patronising strawberry floaters

Dog owners who pick up after their dogs then drop the bag or leave it hanging from trees...seriously, what's the point in picking it up if you can't take it to a bin?

The other thing that annoys me is people who go out and can't seem to enjoy themselves without having to drink, you can go out and have a nice time without having to drink anything.

The TV License company. Just plain bullies.

...

Bouncers in certain clubs (usually the bigger chavvy clubs like oceana). I'm paying to come into your establishment, so you could greet me with some manners. I appreciate bouncers probably get loads of gooseberry fool from drunk idiots, but please don't lump everyone together and treat us all like trouble makers before we're even in from the cold. Some bouncers can be really strawberry floating aggressive. I don't look like the type to go starting a fight on the dancefloor, so please don't treat me like a twat just for coming into your club, yeah?

This sums up why the hyperbole surrounding football annoys me

It's even worse now that our new football stadium is literally 5 minutes away from my house...I'm dreading it when it opens.

The other thing that annoys me is people who go out and can't seem to enjoy themselves without having to drink, you can go out and have a nice time without having to drink anything.

I'm with you on this, it doesn't always sink in with my hardened drinker friends.

When people step on the back of your shoes.
When you're like, 20p away from something you really want, and yet don't have it.
People sitting next to you on a train who smell of vomit.
All of which I experienced today.

Oh God, this! Such tossers who go on about drinking 'real beer' and looking down on lager.

People who post in currently playing and literally just tell you what they played without any sort of opinion on it, as if that is somehow meant to be interesting or start discussion.
