Where I work should be utterly prime for that sort of bullshit, but thankfully I work for a northerner.

Small office setups can probably escape the annoyances a bit and offer a better experience I guess. Until the company expands and middle managers start trying to 'optimize human capital' & bring in weekly change control meetings to make themselves look busy.

Change is essential as it enables us to encompass our blue-ocean opportunities.

The fact people leave here and never say why or bye ;_;

Also I've never been affected by this personally, but the fact Teleworking is proven to be more efficent and better for companies (even Cisco have said this themselves) yet most big organisations don't use it as they need to change the way they manage things.

It's more annoying when they do say goodbye and then come back a few days later. ;)

I've been freelancing for ages but I used gantt charts and timesheets etc on a project management system for the first time. I worked different time like 2 hours to 7 hours over 2 months (almost all because of client delay ie my ex boss  ) but it all added up to the same time and budget I would usually charge in a lump sum with some unrealistic deadline set by the client.

My expenses were 0 and I was unfit for work the whole time. In a traditional office environment I reckon this would have taken me at least 50% longer and would probably have been way more stressed. Plus there's a record of everything.

Most people are perfectly capable of managing themselves at least if they've studied to a decent level (which teaches self discipline), had some project ownership before and actually want to get paid.

I just block that in as unbilled time similar to breaks.

Change control is great if it's done properly.

However I've yet to encounter it done anything close to resembling proper Change Control.

BT are annoying me.

We moved house in July within the same town but couldn't keep our phone number as different exchange. Our number went from a (area code + 6 digits) to (same area code + 5 digits). BT couldn't seem to grasp the fact that my prepaid 12 months line rental on the old line should move to the new line and it's taken 2 months for them to refund me the overcharges they've done.

To top it all, I've just tried to renew my line rental saver online only to be told that it's not within 27 days (it is, it expires on 4th Oct) and that the phone number on my account is my old one, and worse, when I input the new phone number it tells me it's not correct and is missing a digit! So, trying to be clever I added a '0' to the end of the new 5 digit number but that's an invalid number for my account. All other numbers 1-9 get the same message. So BT.com is telling me that the number they assigned me is too short and I cannot enter it on their system and I cannot update my own account with the correct number. I also appear to never be able to take out line saver to save me £40-£50 a year on their extortionate charges.

The biggest issue in my experience is that it's often 'implemented' when there's no need for it. It's becoming a catch-all process to stretch out every minor thing into a big serious thing that needs to be triple-checked, ratified, relayed to people who don't need to be there and approved, etc.

It's a 'busy' manager's wet dream for the most part.

Clucky middle-aged women who, when they've just had to climb two consecutive flights of stairs for the first time in five years, say 'Well, that's my exercise done for the day.'

Just strawberry float off. You're not funny, and don't try implying to me that 1) that represented exercise and 2) you get anything like daily exercise.

I get my exercise from pressing the button in the lift that takes me to floor 2. :datass:

Sigh.

I am annoyed by politicians that have been coached to silence their Ts in certain words so that they sound 'more of the people' and relate-able.
