That was one of my posts, in fact right now I can hear one and keep trying to find it with my phones torch light,

Just got it! Silence at last :)

That's one of the few benefits of the mild tinnitus that I developed a few years back, I can no longer be annoyed by that frustrating buzz of a mosquito! :toot:

Instead I just get annoyed by the constant buzz of my failing body.

John Humphrys.

So frustrating to listen to; constantly interrupting people he's interviewing, deliberately misinterpreting what they're saying, trying to put words in their mouth, and desperately trying to get them to agree with a point that he wants to make, rather than letting them make their own.
Of course he's not the only one, but it feels so much more obvious when he's doing it. Another problem on the Today programme (and probably interviewers in general) is that they're always looking to trip their guests up and get them to saying something that they can make another headline out of. They'll say something deliberately contentious, which is far removed from what the guest has said, and frame it as "so you're saying this?", and when the guest says no they're met with accusations of ducking the question. Of course if they do answer in the positive the interviewer will get all outraged about what's been said, even though it was them who said it in the first place!

It's maddening to listen to.

All interviewers want to be Paxman and just desperately search for a “gotcha!” moment.

Sometimes that is what is needed, but sometimes they just need to ask the questions and listen to the answers.

The milk that isn't milk craze.

Almond milk. 4% almonds. 96% water. £3.

That's the world we seem to live in these days unfortunately - soundbites, gotcha's and a constant desire to trip each other up rather than actually discuss anything constructively.

Humphrys is no worse than most others I don't think, and Paxman is still living off a single moment from 20 years ago despite being pretty gooseberry fool himself.

Drivers that break the speed limit by loads. Especially ones that do 45mph through a 20mph zone.

Agreed. Have a 30mph limit outside our house and speeding along with overtaking is fairly common. The council have the data that shows the level of speeding (700+ vehicles per day, I also have a copy) but when I complain, nothing is done - Police and Council are happy to blame each other with the council saying it is not important enough to use funding for measures to slow traffic and the police simply saying they do not have resources.

Hopefully I can move next year when my daughter has finished her 'A' levels

My road is in a 20mph zone with a school and yet many drivers still speed through; even over-taking other vehicles by speeding past on the wrong side of island crossing points. Volunteers used speed-gun equipment (borrowed from the Police) a few months back and could barely keep up with the amount of speeding vehicles. However, as they are not the Police, they could only operate in an "advisory" capacity i.e. letters were sent to the offending drivers but no convictions could be made.

Speeding seems to be pretty much an "acceptable" crime in the eyes of the Council whilst the Police just aren't funded sufficiently. When someone is killed they may do something about it... though probably not.

Harrumph!

Correct. The 2nd part of our road (not alongside the residential area) has a 40mph limit. Over the last 12 years there has been two fatalities in that part and I very much doubt it was a collision at 40mph.

Car insurance companies - if you can knock off £100 when I phone up then why didn't you quote it the first time around on the renewal letter?

Not just car insurance, pretty much any insurance. Really we should punish these companies by moving elsewhere when we get a better deal rather than giving them another chance.

It's the same for most bill related things. Sky, insurance, broadband, etc.

It's daft companies should just go with he lower price and stop the bollocks.

Even if they do, people will just ignore it.

There's a stretch of road near me leading to the M60. It used to be a 40 zone, but after a woman was brutally killed by a hit and run, they changed it to a 30. That was over 18 months ago, and people still flagrantly disregard the massive signs both by the roadside and painted across the tarmac.

One speed camera is all it takes. It doesn't even have to be a real one. Just do something.

The prevalence of grown men wearing jogging bottoms as general daytime wear in public. Absolutely horrendous. An affront to all that is good and decent in this world. Especially those "fitted" ones.

Also,

The bits in quiz shows where the presenter asks the contestant to "tell us a little bit about yourself". Why do we need to hear that gooseberry fool? Just get on with the goddamn questions!

There are quite a few guys at work that seem to think it is fine to wear them to work now they have reduced the dress code from office to smart casual. I don't know what worse that they think that's smart casual or that their team leads are OK with it.

Probably hoping that you either won't notice or won't do anything about it? I bet there's loads of £££'s to be made this way because there are millions of people who don't call up and threaten to switch or leave etc.
