This "aren't ones who take breaks" like never use their annual leave until they are forced to by the work. Seems like they just don't plan ahead and wanna save money or something even though they can afford a holiday.

Have you considered that some people don't like foreign holidays in the same way you do?

No, I mean I still go abroad 3 or 4 times a year usually but do feel guilty about it at times. I have a friend who has made that decision and respect him a lot for it.

For about five years after moving into my house I could on paper afford to take a nice holiday, but I wanted to feel more secure in my savings. I guess I'm just weird.

Dual must have been planning this for a while .

I enjoy a holiday abroad when I'm there, but the travel and expense is a lot of stress.

This! Yea it's nice to gain a perspective on why people probably don't bother. Like last time my mates wanted to go on a holiday...all they did was talk about it. One didn't even have a valid passport anymore....I got sick of waiting and just went ahead and booked for myself as I was flying out from a different airport and prefer my own hotel room anyway.
This shocked them into booking asap otherwise they still would be sat around on the pub talking about it

I didn't see the point in it before. I had no one to enjoy it with up until the last three years or so.

He's our equivalent of those people who post bait-questions on gooseberry fool sites like Quora.
He comes out with the most ludicrously moronic situations, positions himself as being somehow perfectly reasonable and then sits back while we all pile on.

He's a troll and we should have all blocked him years ago.

We've had offensive and horrible trolls in the past. This guy is hilarious – I don't really understand how so many of you get genuinely wound up by him .

This! Yes another possible reason why people don't go I guess. But it does annoy me when friends of mine are like this and I'm trying to arrange a holiday and they are like meh and rather sit at home on their days off.

I really enjoy solo holidays actually. Just love going wherever I want and exploring. I can eat what I want so I genuinely don't mind going into restaurants alone.

I'm 50/50 on whether he's a troll or just a self obsessed arsehole.

Either way, it livens things up.

I'm going to give the benefit of the doubt here and assume you're being genuine in your understanding of this situation.

What I would take from this is they don't want to go anywhere with you, hence the lack of commitment. They wait for you to book your own thing so they can then avoid where you will be.

Who needs a holiday anyway when you've got 'spoons and beers of the world.
