Yep, I've had that happen to me.
Got asked for directions by some tourists on Whitehall once (to Parliament Square I think).
"Yeah, no worries, it's just up that road."
"But we went that way before..."
"Well you might have done but this way is the quickest way."
"Yeah I think it's over there."
"Well I'm from London and I work round here but it's up to you."
"Okay, thanks."
