Drivers who don't stop at zebra crossings when you're walking across them.

Took my car in yesterday for a manufacturers recall on the wipers. Not sure why they also felt the need to do a health check unasked and strawberry float around with the headlight settings, radio and climate control. And they moved the strawberry floating seat as well. If your mechanic is a short arse and they're only driving the car 15 yards from the car park into the garage then get them a strawberry floating booster seat. Or at the very least put the seat back where you found it.

I had that when I had the van in for mot this week. Pick it up in the dark in a dark forecourt, adjust everything again and then set off only to see the left mirror is pointing straight down and hard right, so is completely useless for road use. You have to manually move them too so it's not like k could adjust on the fly either.

Just leave my mirrors where they were ffs.

That happened to me yesterday and I did give the woman behind the wheel a look as if to say, "What the hell are you doing?".

The fact that I've got to fill in a massive form to assess if I'm fit to work as part of yet another change in the way disability benefits are payed.

I don't think I could be any more disabled and still technically be alive , I have Muscular Distrophy FFS, I'm practically paralyzed and can barely move anything other than my fingers.

I've been getting severe disability allowance for over 20 years so it's not like there isn't already evidence that I am indeed disabled enough to receive the highest level of benefits.

That’s awful. I can see why they want forms completed for certain people, but for a condition like yours it should be pretty bloody obvious why you can’t work.

Bureaucracy is a wonderful thing.

I think a case like yours really should be marked permanent or something so there's no need for forms to be sent after every change in policy.

Hate to be that person but if Ironhide can post to GR he can work a keyboard, meaning some strawberry floating miser could seem him fit for some kinda of office work. Not that I agree, there’s obviously more to it behind the scenes (how much he can do before feeling tired, access to bathrooms and eating etc, use of public transport potentially an issue?) but they’d reassess less of his ability, more of the adaptions in place that could enable him to work some job. FWIW I’m more than happy paying into the system, and feel it’s shite for those who will never be able to work through no fault of their own to be on such a low fixed income.

Thing is it's not even about that, even if some can possibly maybe do some kind of work they're already massively disadvantaged with regards to what they can do (not what they can't) and so it's already taking that perspective. It is compensating for the things that are more difficult because society cannot adjust in other ways and so they are more likely to be on a (much) lower income and likely to have a lower quality of life, or access to specialist help that the NHS cannot fund on its own. So it's not paying people to do less, it's paying people to make it easier for them to do more and level out the unequal ability they have to access work nevermind do it. It's non income contingent so say for example someone does work and earns a certain amount, they have less promotional opportunities or it is harder to do the work and so they perform worse, it is a payment to make that less painful through no fault of their own or lack of trying. Otherwise the likelihood to become sick, impoverished or dead (or dead earlier) is quite high, because of how society is set up as a competitive race for the most part and not largely about community or giving or sharing, but they opposite. Because society or government has some kind of infathomable choice in this respect, the disability benefit is one very small choice in the grand scheme of things that does work towards equality without competition... Except the process for applying and literally maintaining that help through incessant admin and cost cutting has become or is becoming a competition as more and more people are forced to work in jobs they cannot sustain or are harmful to them. That fear and persecution is very real for some people.

On an alternative note, we just sold a terminator exoskeleton figure on eBay. It’s a large collectible, and never been opened. The buyer has complained that the batteries are flat and he’s had to replace them. It’s 15 years old.

They're supposed to last 120 years on a single power cell so I can see why he's angry to be fair.

strawberry floats sake.

Currys just turned up again to actually install my TV. They took it out of the box and theres a big mark in the middle of the screen :fp:

Because it's been more than 48 hours since delivery though the delivery people can't just take it away and swap it, the shop I bought it from have to organise it.
Luckily they've managed to organise another one to be delivered and installed tomorrow.

Absolutely going to insist they refund the entire delivery and install fee after this.
