This sort of thing happened to me last week. I was going around the M42 junction 10 roundabout (if anybody is familiar with that), coming around past the services to get onto the M42 north. Two light sequences before my exit, there are only two lanes with the right-most lane being for flowing into the M42 North/A5 East or the next lane. So I'm in this lane and some dick in a Subaru is in the lane to my LEFT (meant for coming straight off and going down the A5 West), trying to just chop lanes. Blasts his horn at me (despite the fact that I've just followed 2-3 other cars, all of us flowing correctly into the M42 North lane) and screams something out of his window along the lines of "wrong lane!" (and probably some sort of insult).

In fairness, it doesn't help that most of the lines and markings have worn away and on a major island, that really doesn't help. Apparently the highways agency seem to think an acceptable solution is just to put up temporary signs that say "no road markings"

The Cov ring road is a nightmare. Only had to drive on it once and I'd ended up on it by accident. Even worse, there were roadworks closing off certain lanes and exits, making it even more confusing.

In ear headphones that don't sit nicely in the ear. I bought a cheap pair of headphones to use at work (gotta block out all those external noises amirite?) and I am finding it impossible to get them into a position where they are both comfortable and able to produce a decent sound!

If I don't push them in very far then they sound OK but inevitably fall out, If I push them in further then they are uncomfortable but sound better. If I try and adjust them to be more comfortable then they end up creating a weird vacuum that basically muffles the sound! :x

Was going to say that something annoying me is that phones and other stuff no longer seem to come with 'proper' headphones. They're all those crappy ear 'bud' things. They don't stay in at all!

Going to have to buy some good quality 'phones I think. All of my older style headphones have now broken and I'm sick of these awful bud things.

Far worse than ill-fitting headphones is the music that overspills from the ears of self-absorbed commuters. My absolute pet hate and no doubt already moaned about earlier in this thread.

This, and rain on a windy day. Renders umbrellas either unusable or else a twisted mess of spokes, lying in tatters along with my mood.

Things that annoy me? Myself and neurotic/obsessive habits.

Can't have the radio on in the car without the volume being set at an even number for example. Also can't seem to take a pair of trainers off without obsessively cleaning them before putting them away.

I also detest the fact that I am a perfectionist and have to have jobs done just right and everything has to be 100% spot-on and detailed before I can be satisfied with something.

Those are just a few examples and I seem to notice them more and more. It's doing my head in!

I do this, and I also impose it on other people if I'm a passenger

Same. Except for 21 which is an honourary even number in my head.

Acceptable ending numbers for volume are -0, -2, -5, and -8.

EDIT: Unless it's 33 or 67.

You know that's nearly always the trend for me come to think of it.

Unless it's gain in which case 1 or 9 are often necessary, but that's a different signal process, and response curve.

When I'm clearly working hard, headphones in etc, and the woman in the next cubicle along decides to talk at me. I try to ignore her, but I can feel her watching me, and eventually it just seems rude to keep ignoring her, so I remove my headphones, but continue working, nodding and saying, "Mhmm," or, "Yeah, that sucks," whenever it seems appropriate. Then she pipes up with, "Look at me when I'm talking to you," as if her absolute shambles of a life deserves that much of my attention, especially when the department has been operating at half strength for months and we're weeks behind on our clients. Just strawberry floating do your job and stop bothering me and everyone else you insufferable mess. :x

I can't hear anything when the volume is 0, how are you managing to hear it at -8? :capnscotty:

Online forms that require you to enter an email address and the second you put in the first letter lose their gooseberry fool like 'THAT IS NOT A VALID EMAIL ADDRESS'.

No gooseberry fool you binary twatbag, gimme two strawberry floating seconds to write the whole thing and you'll see it strawberry floatin IS.

Make sure you don't take the car to Taf's garage. :dread:
