I don’t like mushrooms at all. The texture, the smell and the taste. Even the looks of it is nasty.

To be fair this thread is for venting and I was a bit critical.

I'm doing a lot of self work at the moment and it's kind of amazing how obvious these things seem when you pay attention to them. I get myself down or irritated quite often. Largely by people misinterpreting things, but then I misinterpret their misinterpretation and it all goes to gooseberry fool. Double empathy problem.

I like observing loops and patterns in conversation, I'm slightly obsessed with it. My short term memory is strawberry floating awful but my long term memory to perceive things over a longer span of time (like years) is crazy. Hence I deconstruct stuff.

That's not fair to call it an obsession, it's a necessity. I can't perceive peoples non-verbal stuff accurately or reliably so I end up picking up on other stuff. For example people contradicting themselves in the space of a couple of seconds, can say a lot about how secure people actually are, versus how they act.

It's a pretty horrible world tbh. Maybe I'll just move out of England where everyone is double talking all the damn time. And remember you're always FINE or there's something you're making a fuss about. Or I left a toxic environment and just kept on operating in the same survival mode regardless of the threat level.

Anyhow, I try not to judge people harshly. As we live in a very judgemental society. I like the observation, those who judge others, tend to do so because they judge themselves most harshly of all. I get the feeling people are trying to find an angle or get under someone's skin by default, I can detect it within seconds. A culture like that is a little violent. On the other hand, you have people who are constantly defensive.

Like if everyone could just chill, that would be great. Instead we have careless, angry people and frightened, worried, annoyed people.

I really like mushrooms but my missus despises them, but we've come up with this really sneaky secret scheme whereby if we're sharing a pizza we don't put mushrooms on it.

Is it really so weird that if you are sharing something with a loved one, you don't try and force them to eat something they don't like?

Do you have any Jewish/Muslim friends? Would you insist on them sharing a pepperoni pizza with you?

I value having mushrooms on my pizza far less than I value not forcing my fiancé to jump through weird hoops to share an enjoyable meal with me.

I can see that you've subsequently added an "and can afford it" bit to the question. No; such people are not boring or lazy; they just prefer to holiday in their own country or aren't ones who take breaks away.

Plus with the impending climate disaster, some people are trying to reduce their carbon footprint and are avoiding flights where possible.

This "aren't ones who take breaks" like never use their annual leave until they are forced to by work. Seems like they just don't plan ahead and wanna save money or something even though they can afford a holiday.
