Conspiracy by the blutac companies to drive demand and push up prices.

"Big Blu-tac" spent millions on genetically engineering wasps as a breed of ultimate pest for the sole purpose of pushing their product on us.

When the waspocalypse comes only those who have protected their homes and family with blu-tac will survive...

Big blutac are so insidious that they've even managed to sow dissent in the way the general public refer to their key product. Is it blu-tac, blutac, blu tack, blu-tack, or blue tack?

Divide and conquer, they've played us all like a fiddle :fp:

[Adam curtis documentary voice]When blu tac was invented in 1935, a single piece could last for up to 10 years. However they soon discovered that they could make more money by deliberately designing it to become non-sticky within 3 months. They were so subtle with this change, covered by an effective marketing campaign, that they got away with it - blu tac revenue grew year on year until 1973.[/adam curtis documentary voice]

You missed out the rapid cutting between stock footage of blobs of blu tac, factories, smug-looking capitalists, topped off by a final slow-mo zoom of a blu tac'd poster falling down.

EDIT: While this quietly plays in the background at half speed.

Someone has moved into the flats two blocks along from me... and every afternoon for the past fortnight they've blasted out music. For clarity, this is someone not in my building and they're roughly 200 foot away from my place - and I can still hear their music. Goodness knows what their immediate neighbours think.

I know which flat it is and I'm tempted to [inadvisable plan deleted].

When you're using a browser without ad block and you realise how obnoxiously intrusive advertising has now become...

"What's the price?"

It still amazes me when I see other people browse the internet without adblock and I realise quite how dystopic it is

The thing is I'm not opposed to advertising, but it's like their solution to adblock is rather than to integrate adverts properly into websites or make it less intrusive, they keep ratcheting it up. You'll have videos and sounds that play automatically, enormous banner ads slap bang in the middle of the sceen, pop-ups that say you've won a prize (that on mobile can't be closed), mini surveys to complete before you can read an article, adverts that play before a video but then the video you wanted to watch doesn't load...

Poor road planning that leads to roundabouts with multiple sets of traffic lights which lead to situations where your light is green and you are unable to move because people were let onto the roundabout but then become blocked (due to other traffic lights) at the point where you enter. You then have about one or two cars from your entry point joining the roundabout before your lights are red again.

News sites seem to be the worst doing the "read the rest of this article by completing this survey" or whatever.

Fortunately the one in my example is near our offices so I only have to navigate it once per month.

There is one a few miles from where I live and someone thought "you know what would improve things? Traffic lights!" So these were added. A year or so later, someone else thought "You know what would improve traffic flow? Removing the traffic lights!"

So they were covered up. Over the last few years they have come back and gone again, currently not in use. Another good use of council budgets.

Had to disable adblock on youtube though, as when it was on, the page wouldn't let me upload.

You could try just whitelisting the upload page.

It's not a huge issue as the ads on YouTube aren't particularly invasive anyways.

Also, the more people who use YT with ads (at least on my channel anyways) the better as then i get more revenue, my earnings have generally dropped off since the huge boost i had with the royal wedding, but am still doing pretty well as it's averaging around £50 a month.

I think sometimes they set up the light sequences then fail to 'update' them as the years go by and more traffic uses certain roundabouts. I hate the situations you mention though because some of the drivers around here are terrible and I'm sitting, stuck at light with my car hanging over another exit and waiting for somebody to crash into me.

On the flipside, there's a big roundabout near me where I've got the traffic light sequences/timing down to perfection so on the exits where multiple lanes come off and merge, I can always roll up the lights as they turn to green then overtake everybody else before they even move. Very satisfying when somebody in the lane next to you speeds up the the red light, slams their brakes and I just blow straight past them.
