The point of hate speech laws is to emphasise the seriousness of actions which are already crimes - harassment, inciting violence against another person, etc. - when those crimes are motivated by a person's minority status or vulnerability. I don't personally feel like I need extra protection against a wave of anti-man crimes to be totally honest.

Besides that, it's not really 'the reason no-one votes Green', is it? No-one votes Green because ecosocialism is still a relatively niche point of view.

I took Fade's "that's why no one votes Green" was in regards to the stupid pandering they do (apparently, I have no idea if they do or not), rather than the specific anti-sexism stuff.

I don't know why anyone's surprised the Green Party is into pandering. Pandas are an endangered species.

Here's the thing though. Women are not are minority. In fact, they are by definition the majority https://www.statista.com/statistics/281 ... by-gender/

Those laws exist to protect actual minorities. You know, like people having bricks thrown through their windows, or being attacking because of their skin colour or accent.

And they're not even talking about crimes, they literally said "Make Misogyny a hate crime" so they want any potentially sexist comment to be treated as a hate crime? That is why I thought it was so absurd. I could understand if they actually were talking about physical crime.

Well this is just my point of view, but ever since I've started following their Facebook page I've wanted to vote for them less and less because they post so much pandering biased billshit. It makes me embarrassed to have voted for them sometimes.

If women are the majority then men are by definition the minority. Poor men.

There is no such thing as sexism against men, the Green Party confirmed yesterday.

Oh well one day women will run the world largely through exploitation and then we will finally get it. Unfortunately that isn't true at present. At all.

Consistent with previous years, the proportion of adult victims of violent crime varied by personal and household characteristics. For example, males were more likely to be a victim of violent crime than females, as were adults aged 16 to 24 compared with all other age groups.

Everyone does.

And this discussion isn't even about that. They're trying to make sexism a hate crime. Which means someone could potentially report you for telling a joke that offends them.

Now break that down into the men that were attacked because they were men and the women that were attacked for being women.

If racism is a hate crime, then why shouldn't sexism be?

Dude, half the strawberry floating reason men are more likely to be a victim of violent crime is because it's more socially acceptable for them to be harmed. They are being attacked because they are men.

So men getting attacked for being men only happens half the time. How about for women? Are more than half the attacks on women because they are women?

Sorry guys, I forgot everything is black and white on the internet, my bad.

This has gone from "Make sexism against women a hate crime" is stupid

To "You don't care about women's rights because you don't agree with this stupid petition"

Clearly there's no middle ground, no of course not.

Do you guys accept that a gay black woman will experience certain difficulties and dangers that a straight white guy typically wouldn't?

That's due to a cultural power dynamic that puts the former demographics in a position of vulnerability compared to the latter.
