IT departments and their strawberry floating power trip ticket system.

Apparently setting up a new email address puts me on a 5 week waiting list. 5 weeks.

Ours is appalling as well. We have been having trouble saving and moving files around the network for a couple of days now. Somebody rang IT this morning for an update and was told that the ticket had been closed as the problem was resolved. :fp:

Respect the ticket system or strawberry float off. We have better things to be doing than setting up your e-mail address. Someone should have requested it 5 weeks before you needed it ;)

So our system problems yesterday means that everything that was saved on the network drives yesterday was lost when they “fixed” it this morning. To repair this they have just announced that they have a backup and so will restore all of yesterdays files tonight but that will cause us to lose anything we have done today.

Great fix IT. :fp:

I hope they put a ticket in for themselves and have to sit and wait for themselves.

People speeding in carparks.

My current workplace is in an industrial estate. When the estate was opened 10 years ago the carpark had two entrances which was very handy for those working on the estate. Unfortunately the carpark quickly developed a reputation for being a handy shortcut for people doing the schoolrun so was swamped every morning by people bringing their kids to the local primary school. This became dangerous as people driving their kids anywhere are the most incosiderate bastards on the face of the earth*. The solution was to close one of the exits about nine years ago which annoyed everyone working on the estate and meant that getting in and out of the carpark took a long time.
Last summer the second carpark entrance was reopened and some hefty speedbumps were installed to try and prevent the return of the breeders. Sadly a lot of them quickly started using the carpark as a shortcut again with the added bonus that they now drive like lunatics to try and make up the seconds lost driving over the speedbumps. This morning a delivery to a neighbouring office was destroyed by a caring father in a Land Rover that must have been doing around 50mph through the carpark. So now they are talking about closing the second entrance again.

Happy days.

*thats like, totally a fact.

I can sorta understand people getting frustrated on motorways and putting their foot down but speeding in any sort of area likely to have pedestrians is gross. The delivery driver today was lucky he hadn't finished putting stuff on his package cart. If he'd been at the cart when it got hit he'd have been strawberry floated.

Speeding twats are the worst.

I was overtaken just as I was coming up to the roundabout this morning. I had to brake real hard to let him in (it was obvious he was going in regardless of me being there).

I don't often use the horn but I used it about 5 times in quick succession. You saved not even a second on your journey by doing that. banana split.

A week later and I've had 4 email updates on this, the latest one telling me it's been assigned to someone. In the time it took to assign someone they could have just set a NEW EMAIL ADDRESS UP strawberry float me.

I don't know what size the organisation is but there is a metric strawberry float tonne of day to day issues that are going to be way ahead of a queue like that, to be honest.

Haha one of my tasks at my new place is to automate / speed up the starter leaver process because right now it takes 2 hours to get from new request to new user and 1 hour to close the account from request.

Gonna tell em bit to worry I think.

Even when I need it done now because all of my work and software needs to be unbound from my current address? If it doesn't happen then nobody will be able to access or edit any of my stuff efficiently shutting marketing down.
