The whole "Me vs. I" thing has always been a common mistake, it seemed to me that you used to see a lot of correcting people for using "Me" where they should have used "I" and this has resulted in everyone using "I" all the strawberry floating time! I was watching something on TV just now where the presenter said "I want you to come back to the house with John and I" - NO it's John and ME you fuckwit!

It's not as if it's that hard to get it right people!

Dont you just say the sentence as you on your own and that tells you which to use?

"Come to the house with me."
"Come to the house with John and me."

"I went to the house."
"John and I went to the house"

At least thats the way I always work it out.

Yep - just phrase it as you would if the other person wasn't involved. Given that English grammar has a bunch of other more obtuse/complicated rules that people manage to get right makes the fact that this one is such a common mistake infuriatingly bizarre!

I think it's easy to get wrong when you're speaking quickly to be fair. I often rephrase sentences between thinking of what to say and saying it, which sometimes results in awkward / bizarre construction. If I want to speak grammatically perfectly I have to take a relatively long pause between each sentence. Maybe I'm just dim.

But in text there's no excuse, just like they're/there/their.

The 'covering our own arse' safety warnings they put on things such as cotton buds. "Don't insert or use them on any part of your ear". Well what the strawberry float else am I going to use them for, ramming down my cock?

There's a couple of people at work who use 'caveat' as a verb and it's driving me crazy.

I think I had some caveat in a hotel once. Wasn't keen.

I do that sometimes as well. But it reminds me of something else that annoys me, people who never proof read anything! Like literally anything!

I am doing some teaching now and found a student who was plagiarizing. They insisted it wasn't plagiarism as they just got some help from another student. I asked them to put all this in writing for me as it's official policy.

Second line of their email to me: "This is clearly a case of plagiarism" How do you leave out the word not! The entire email was only 2 paragraphs long as well!

Any warning like this will be because at some point some idiot has done something with an product they shouldn't have, have injured themselves, made a claim for personal injury and won because there was no warning sign and so from then on the product has the warning sign.

I didn't know they made ultra small cotton buds.

The weather is my current bug bear. Won't stop raining for long enough to for dry lawn. And it needs cutting so badly.
