I often rephrase sentences between thinking of what to say and saying it, which sometimes results in awkward / bizarre construction. If I want to speak grammatically perfectly I have to take a relatively long pause between each sentence. Maybe I'm just dim.
But in text there's no excuse, just like they're/there/their.
Karl in court...
Oh sorry, I meant to say I
didn't commit all those murders.
I do that sometimes as well. But it reminds me of something else that annoys me, people who never proof read anything! Like literally anything!
I am doing some teaching now and found a student who was plagiarizing. They insisted it wasn't plagiarism as they just got some help from another student. I asked them to put all this in writing for me as it's official policy.
Second line of their email to me: "This is clearly a case of plagiarism"
How do you leave out the word not! The entire email was only 2 paragraphs long as well!
