Dangerblade wrote:There was advert in the early 1990s, probably around 1992, for Lynx (I think). It featured a talking shower who said "Good morning Bob, what you doing Bob?". It terrified me to the point that apparently my mum had to change the channel to BBC whenever ITV went to an ad break, just in case it came on.

I remember it clear as day but never been able to find it. I'd love to see it again, what a weird nostalgia rush that would be...

ITV is still around.

I'm not joking, this video gave me nightmares:

We got made to watch it at school. The slurry pit drowning (10:45) still makes me gag. The poison scene was strawberry floating awful (15:00 onwards 17:00 for the screams).

Oh holy gooseberry fool baws. I watched some on YouTube not long ago and it still give me strawberry floating nightmares.

Don't know how I ended up working with the ambulance service. Same applies to the terrifying idea of working in the hospital from terminator 2 which I've ended up in somehow also.

Crimewatch still is scary. If I watched that gooseberry fool I'd never go out and I'd barricade all my doors and windows.

This.
I vaguely remember an episode where he was being chased by another scarecrow through a field of cabbages. For some reason that put me off cabbages for a while.

Also, Temple of Doom put me off tomato soup as I was always scared there might be eyeballs in it. :dread:

The Enfield Poltergeist episode of ITV's Strange But True gave me the willies as a kid. My brother and I watched it again on YouTube earlier this year and it brought it all back even though I know it's bollocks. Also the opening titles sequence, when the face appears.

The first time we went to universal I queued up with my parents for about 2 hours to get on that as it was so popular back then, THEN when we got near the front I saw the video of Kong attacking and got so scared I didn't go on :fp:

i was 32 years old.

joke, I was actually 35

seriously though, I was about 12

Clowns - clowns are extremely creepy.
Dr Who - particularly episodes with sea monsters in them.

(Edit: I ought to explain: we are going back too the years of Jon Pertwee here.)

Even as a grown-ass man, this gooseberry fool is still terrifying.

I was gonna post this too. Scared the absolute gooseberry fool out of me as a kid. Also the bit where he stands up all flat and gangly after being steam rolled. Grotesque.

How could I forget the old Sugar Puffs commercials. They were absolutely terrifying as well.

Father Christmas was the main one... At play school he used to climb out of a loft hatch and it scared the gooseberry fool out of me

Other notable mentions that other people have already said...
The barber
Clowns
Doctor Who (the maggot, sea devils, gargoyle episodes)
Dolls
The bad guy from Roger Rabbit
The Riddlers
Ghostbusters 2 slime/Vigo/Runaway baby pram
