Thinking of Trying My hand with Ebay

I'm thinking of trying to make a little money, buying and selling on ebay, and I am looking for some general tips and advice.

Where is it best to start?
Cd's
DVD's
Video Games?
Clothing?

And are there any websites that seem to in lots of cases have lower prices than what things auction for on ebay.

Obviously i've got to remember ebay fees, and postage costs as well. So even if it sells for more than i bought it, I might lose profit.

If anybody does do some dodgy dealing on ebay, advice would be appreciated.

The time for making money on ebay has gone. You now have to offer free postage on most items and the lack of negative buyer feedback means if items arent exactly how described / pictured or arrive incorrectly you'll more than likely to forced to refund either partially or fully. Not that I mean to put you off at all :lol:

I have to agree, eBay is a real bitch to make money on now, unless you have some souces in the real world to get something people wanted and lots of it (on the cheap!) but the second you do well everyone copies!

Ebay have made it hard for people to make money with increasing fees and forcing free postage, whilst it's good for consumers, it's gooseberry fool for the sellers, you may want to reconsider!

Or buy loads of games in bulk at costco and sell them on

I'd lurk around charity shops and pick up stuff from there to sell on it's dirt cheap and you never know what people will buy off of Ebay, I sold someone who dealt in the area of selling useless tat on auction sites a Billy Ray Cyrus single in a charity shop for 59p and he sold it on for just under £6. Wasn't even Achy Breaky Heart either :fp:
