Shane Meadows' mini-series starts tonight on Channel 4, set a few years after the film.

Anyone going to watch it?

Definately watching this.

The film really struck a chord with me, as I was born in the 80's. It makes me realise what people were like and what non-whites had to go through. My uncle said to me the other day when he was at school there were a group of skinheads that would basically tell him to give them 50p by the end of the day or they would beat him up.

As for the film, it had some stunning performances, mainly by the young kid and the racist leader.

I hope the series conjures up the same feelings of the first and gives and accurate portrayal of 1986, which ofcourse is also the year that England got knocked out of the World Cup to Maradona's 'Hand of God'.

I found the film This is England very hard to watch. Very uncomfortable. So I guess it'll depend on my mood whether I watch this or not.

Yeah, really looking forward to this. Loved the characters in This Is England and it's great that they've all returned for this to give it a sense of continuity.

Just been reading the blurb on Wikipedia. Too much info. I think I've figured out what's going to happen. :fp:

What I don't understand is, I thought Milky got beaten to death in the film? yet he's still alive.

When I first heard about it I was like meh, saw the trailer yesterday with all the cast in it...

There was some ambiguity though. She said something like I'm sure he'll be okay. Milky's fate was left open. Until now that is.

Not really, if he was dead they would have made it clear he died as a result of the attack, which was quite hard hitting on first viewing. The performance by the skinhead racist was very good, I cannot believe there were people like that!

I also never realised that there were non-racist skinheads.

I found some scenes quite uncomfortable to watch as well, especially that fight.

Still haven't watched the film  It was on late last night so I've got it recorded.

If I've got time I'll watch it when I get home from work.

I loved the movie so will be watching this.

Interesting fact, Stephen Graham (who played the violent racist skinhead) is actually mixed race.

That post speaks for me, also.

(So don't go editing it.)
