I've really enjoyed Shane Meadows' previous films and do want to watch this but....

the guy with the red headband in the right of the picture looks like he's going to be an annoying twat and it's kind of holding me back from watching it.

I'm sure I will, but, I mean come on, look at him! :)

I can't even mind him from the film (obvious mental block to protect my poor brain), I'm sure it'll be the same after watching this!

"What twat with the red headband?"

One of the most uncomfortable scenes I've ever watched on TV.

Yeah, it was horrible, but it had to be like that. It was meant to feel like an ordeal and it was.

Amateur. Try watching the film Irreversible.

I sat there at the end and just said 'fuuucck'. Incredibly dark at the end. When the music first kicked in when you see Combo stumbling to Shaun's house, set the scene perfectly

Up until that point I was thinking this perhaps seems a bit too light hearted. Some great comedy moments though:

Gadget and his moustache
The manager telling Woody he has to work when England are playing
When Shawn's mum catches him and 'Schnel'

Shawn: I didn't know you was in!
Mum: I was just up stairs having a sleep. I heard a dog barking and wondered where it was coming from

Seeing Shawn crack after that line killed it for me

Still don't dig the motorbike lot, the main guy especially, his acting seems so forced. It just doesn't fit in with the world. Everyone is so naturally yet he sticks out like a sore thumb in a bad way

I just love the acting of everyone else in this though. They mesh on another level, so disappointed it's the last one next week.

Yep, he really does stick out badly in this show. Not sure what the point of him is at all. There almost seems like there's too much to cover in just one last episode, especially with what's-his-face coming back right at the end.

That guy just seems to be there for comedy relief.

Yeah, I know, but so is Gadget, and he doesn't come across as a cartoon character.

But... the other guys are much funnier. Woody, Gadget and Shawn and a little of Megs more than have me in stiches. Like I said earlier, that episode for the most part, was very light-hearted mixed in with Lol's drama. That bit with Woody saying he wants his Lollipop back  Me too Woody, me too

I get the feeling that next week will be all about Combo redeeming himself. Lol already mentioned that Combo tried to sort out her dad before and failed because he was only a kid at the time. This time he can kick the absolute crap out of somebody and be in the right for once.

Looking forward to it as well.

How is Combo redeeming himself though? The only way Combo could redeem himself is by jumping in front of a bus in order to save Milky's life.

Perhaps "redeeming himself" are the wrong words. Milky is powerless against Lols dad (as proved last night), Lol is scared of him, girl last night got raped etc etc. Combo is the only one that can sort out the situation in his own special way.

He doesn’t redeem himself for what he did to Milky, but he will in the eyes of much of the gang (even if they still don’t want to hang out with him after!). And who doesn’t want to see Combo kicking the strawberry float out of Lols dad?

The directer is really overusing "Piano music and montage of emotional pain". Each episode seems to have had at least 2 of them.

Things really picked up in the last episode mayne, I thought the first two were a bit slow. That bird getting raped was horrible mayne, Lols pops is a proper banana split.

The ped guy is a joker, he proper over plays it but is proper funny.

Yeah I guess Combo is gonna have to duke it out, but you already know the ending gonna be depressing as strawberry float. My guess Combo gonna do something good then get killed.

They got any plans for any more of This Is England???

Meadows said he would do more if this series was a success, so it's hopeful. With the number of characters in the series, there's no shortage of potential stories.
