Download started off pretty fast and has now slowed to a crawl, taking 2 hours to download 1GB. The beta will be bloody over before this is done!

It mechanics are still great but the innovation has long since moved on. Take the wall running, it only feels like it's in the game to try and take away something from Titanfall. The maps are not built for wall running, except maybe one or two areas of a map. The invisible walls on top of rooftops make no sense to me. Even little things like trying to shoot a light out yet it remains like its a solid brick. It's too stuck in its ways but it's too afraid to take it back to the basics. The sooner it moves away from the future stuff the better. It needs to standout as opposed to following what the completion does.

I'm genuinely excited now in what Titanfall two can pull off.

I'm struggling to get used to dual analog controls again but I haven't played much so I might eventually get the hang of it. I did enjoy the parkour stuff in Titanfall so it's good to see it adapted elsewhere given that Titanfall is pretty dead. As Floex said though, the maps do need more work to accommodate the wall running and jumping. Titanfall is a lot more vertical than the maps I saw here so the parkour element adds more there than it does here.

I disagree Floex about the wall running. The maps seem to be designed so that wall running and jumping are a fun addition but not essential. Seems to me that they've took on board the fact that not everybody likes jumping everywhere. If all the maps are built in that way i'll be very happy.

PS3 & 360 versions won't have campaign and will retail for $50 (instead of $60) -

NEW DETAILS FOR PS3 AND XBOX 360 VERSIONS OF CALL OF DUTY: BLACK OPS III

Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 is a truly next-generation experience designed from day one to harness the full potential of the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC. Black Ops 3 pushes the boundaries of the franchise to new levels across all modes of play on next generation hardware.

As we announced back in June, we know that there are still fans waiting to make the switch to the newest console hardware and developers Beenox and Mercenary Technology have been working tirelessly to bring as much of the Black Ops 3 gameplay as possible to the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.

The Black Ops 3 PS3 and Xbox 360 versions will feature Multiplayer and Zombies gameplay only, not Campaign. The ambitious scope of the 1-4 player coop Campaign design of the PS4, Xbox One and PC versions could not be faithfully recreated on old generation hardware.

Delivering the best possible gameplay experience on all platforms is always our highest priority. With that in mind, Black Ops 3 PS3 and Xbox 360 players can continue to look forward to a new experience of Black Ops 3 multiplayer, including the new momentum-based, chain-movement system, as well as the all-new Specialist class of 9 Black Ops soldiers, which fundamentally change the way players engage in combat.

Black Ops 3 players on PS3 and Xbox 360 will also have a chance to immerse themselves in the all-new Zombies mode, called “Shadows of Evil,” which features a 1940’s film-noir inspired adventure that takes the signature Black Ops Zombies gameplay to a new level.

Fans should note that other features built to leverage the next generation hardware like the new Weapon Paint Shop and the new suite of eSports tools will only be available on Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 for PS4, Xbox One, and PC.

The PS3 and Xbox 360 versions of Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 will be available for a suggested retail price of $49.99 and include a bonus download for the original Call of Duty: Black Ops (bonus download availability may vary by region), the game that launched this series. Standard Edition available for preorder from Simplygames for £34.99, pretty cheap for a preorder I think.

I don't know much about CoD, but I'm surprised how quiet this thread has been. Reading though a few previews, there seems to be a pretty positive vibe about Black Ops III.

Is anyone planning to give it a go? (besides RetroEd, of course!).

This is the first year I'm not bothering with COD. Me and 8 of my mates used to play Black Ops 2 on the 360 almost every night but most of them didn't bother with any games after that since some of us got the next gen consoles and some didn't. If I'm playing an online FPS I much prefer co-op like Destiny rather than PvP stuff anyway.

Kind of related.

I know it isn't the game's actual acronym, but something about the title being popularly known as CoDBLOPS has made me soften my Argh ffs another CoD stance. And I actually kind of look forward to eventually playing them.

That is all.

edit: :!: Just realised I couldn't find this thread when searching to post this somewhere:

Over the years, the Call of Duty® community has proven itself to be among the most passionate in the world – and we count ourselves fortunate to make games for you.

We’ve been listening to one of your top requests and are excited to announce that modding and mapping are coming to Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 PC!

We’ve still got a lot of work left to do, but here’s our current plan:

You will be able to create Maps & Game Modes and more!
We will include Unranked Dedicated Server Files with the tools so you can run servers with modded content anywhere you choose.
We will provide an Unranked Server Browser so you can easily find and join servers with modded content.
Closed Alpha target date: March 2016

Please remember that this is software development, so things don’t always work out exactly as planned. Sometimes features slip or drop off altogether, sometimes they get replaced with other, more awesome features as we hit into limitations of our original plans.

BLOPS 2 was the first one I didn't buy which makes it an easy decision not to buy this. I still haven't played the single player in AW and only got to the mid thirties in multiplayer despite really enjoying it.

After much thought, me neither. I never really got what I wanted from any of the CoD games, TBH, yet I wasted an awful lot of money trying to find it. I'll be happy to sit this one out and watch the occasional YT playthrough. It's not like I ever went online and played any of these games properly in the first instance.

Mines on the way from Boomerang. I was pretty impressed with AW and they've incorporated a lot of the move set of that by the looks of things. Plus I've never played a Treyarch COD and they seem to be the A team these days.

Will give it a bash then send it back next week when TR launches.
