Evening
Has anyone here emigrated before, looked to do so, changed mind or didn't quite have the courage?
Me and the wife have just started talking to a migration agent about moving to Australia. (IE we have all the forms and the next step is to fill them in and pay the initial 1/3 fee)
Based on my wifes job as a community work we can do the below
459 visa for 4 years so this is a temporary visa
After two years we can apply for permeant residency as long as one of has worked for one year on 35 hours or more per week
Will have to live in South Austrlia as as it is a skilled regional visa - Will go Adelaide as we have been before and seems a nice place and we liked it when we visited
You don't have to work in your specific skill
I'm all up for the adventure, doing something new but at the same time it scares the hell out of us as neither of us are risk takers so it goes against every natural instinct.
We have not told parents yet
I'm 34 and my wife is 30 so we are good ages
We don't have children
We own our own home and it is our pefect house and we would need to sell it to fund the adventure.
Wife hates her job
I like mine but it is stressful and I don't see it as long term secure (work in mortgages)
We have a good life, decent income, but if we don't try it will definitly be a later life regret
So we do feel in a way if we go we are literally giving up everything, decent standard of living, nice house, friends, family, basically the way we live our lives to go and try something new for what we think we will like but we don't want to come home with our tails between our legs and then starting again!!!
We have been to Australia befoe and we love it, been all over, the lifestyle would be great, weather briliant but to start all over again and build up a new life from scratch in a new country is a massive gamble that could backfire.
Anyway I need to vent, see peoples thought and opinions and if we proceed will keep you all updated on the (mis)adventure
