When you look at it, invert isn't the default control setup

Just saying

An old school friend of mine, when he first got his Amiga 500, the joystick for some unknown reason had it's cable come out of the bottom of the joystick, rather than at the top.

Due to his age, and maybe slight retardation, he then learnt, and proceeded to play all games whilst holding the joystick upside down. so up was down, left was right etc.

He would do this for all games, and would happily beat me at Sensi soccer whilst playing it "goofy"

He would find it impossible to play a game holding the joystick the correct way.

Pretty strawberry floated up, but I guess you choose and stick with whatever way you learn with (god only knows how he would play with a control pad)

Just means you aren't thinking 3 dimensionally.

Sure thing, professor.

I move the crosshair around the screen. "Moving your neck muscles" is insane talk.

This is the worst debate I've ever been a part of.

Or are you moving the screen around the crosshair?

I think it depends on whether you consider FPS to be a simulation. If I'm walking down the street and want to look up,my head tilts back. However, when I'm playing a game I don't need to tilt my head to look up, moving the controller forwards/upwards is enough. Controllers are used to simplify on screen movements, not mimick them exactly (unless they are motion controllers or steering wheels).

You are thinking about the 2D plane of the screen, rather than the 3D world its displaying.

To me that suggests that you aren't as invested in the game as people who invert.

You mean immersed I guess as we all paid the same price. ;)
Yes, I'm probably not so immersed as I don't see myself as a bald marine or soldier.

I don't particularly care whether people do or not - but I cannot play FPS games without inverting.

Check out my YouTube channel!
One man should not have this much power in this game. Luckily I'm not an ordinary man.

holy gooseberry fool.

the way in which you move a half-inch long thumbstick dictates how immersed you are in shooting people with guns. i guess FPS are murder simulators after all.

also, I wish I was as good at being able to play games as HSH is.

He plays the games as a simulation. I fully expect him to take 2 days getting into character before he even starts a new FPS.

I don't think HSH is being serious...

...is he?

No, really he can't be serious, can he?
