Unfinished Business wasn't great. That's my first experience with it and the levels felt like they had been cut from the main game for not being good enough. Not sure if that's at all the case but it just felt like a B-side to the excellent first game.

But now I'm ready to start TR2 :msgreen:

Hey, Fisher, I don't think that I will; I suspect that the games are far too tricky for me to tackle nowdays!

Are you thinking of getting the game on Switch, dude?

Forgot these were out. I’ll pick these up Friday and spend the week with them before Rebirth next week.

Started Tomb Raider II this morning and smashed through the Venice chapter, finding all dragon statues so far. It's so strawberry floating good :datass:

I've been slowly going through TR1. Really wish I had an original PSX controller, I know I could use Dpad but it's not in the ideal place on modern pads!

Absolutely lovely remake visuals, minor issues that have already been mentioned aside. It's like how you remember it looking. They badly need some brightness controls though. Some areas are so dark in modern graphics that you have to turn to classic visuals to see where you are going. It's extremely hard to see where you are going on Switch undocked.

Honestly it's surprised me as it made me realise just how supreme TR1 was. The level design is just absolutely legendary. I'm up to the Colosseum now and you realise the darkness in the original graphics made it seem far larger than it was! Just amazing how well they used every trick back then to create atmosphere and scale.

One thing I definitely realise though is the original was genuinely very hard. I couldn't do this now with the blue crystal saves. I think PC gamers lorded it over PSX players as they had better visuals, but they definitely had it easy back in the day being able to save anywhere. Glad I'm in what I call my gaming retirement where I can save after every jump, I don't know how I ever finished all three as a kid! :slol: l

I know it's mainly down to nostalgia but I still prefer 2 over the original :datass: Up to the final level on the Maria Doria now. Then it's off to Tibet if I remember correctly.

Watched a great YouTube video the other night on the development of the PS1 era games that gave some really interesting insight and context into why everything kind of went a bit tits up after the first game. Well worth a watch if you've got the time:

I’m about to have an aneurism with this :slol:

Half way through the first level on tank controls but feel the need to switch at times to modern just to be able to jump properly.

Took me 30 mins to do the first jump section that has a pool of water with it  :x

And the strawberry floating save system it’s utterly ridiculous.

Click to what I think is save and it actually loads the game again from the last save

Unless people mean the actual PSX then I agree, the term should be banned.

I do remember it being quite a prolific term from unofficial magazines and third party manufacturers until about 99.

Shame the PS2 PSX was never released over here, as I would have bought it. :shifty:
