Managed to miss loads of stuff that i wanted to see this year. Ten that I did see and liked, in no particular order:

Birdman
Whiplash
Ex Machina
Inherent Vice
It Follows
Everest
Sicario
The Walk
The Lobster
Straight Outta Compton

Biggest stinker was Jupiter Ascending. Jurassic World was the most disappointing.

Jupiter Ascending was strawberry floating awful. Eddie Redmayne, fresh from his Best Actor award, was one of the worst things about it .

Someone asked Channing Tatum "Jupiter Ascending-what was that?" on his AMA on Reddit and he replied “Great question. I have the same one to myself"

I watched Jupiter Ascending the other day and couldn't get my head around it at all. It's like a children's film for adults and can't decide which group it wants to cater for.

Jupiter Ascending was almost as bad as Lucy. It was so random and arguably the most mis cast movie of the year.

Yeah, it's a tough watch - tense and horrifying and sad all at once. And yep, Garfield is great. Such an underrated actor.

I completely forgot about Everest. That's definitely on my list, really enjoyed it.

Almost didn't see this. Surprised it wasn't tagged Entertainment.

Whiplash and Mad Max Fury Road are my favourite films this year, not seen a lot else to make a top 10 list with.

Only other 2015 films I have seen this year have been: San Andreas, Spy and Terminator Genisys.

My honourable mention goes to Knock Knock. Most fun I've had in the cinema all year.

I mean, it was total shite and the plot was a complete mess but we were the only ones in the screening and Keanu gets sexually assaulted by straight 10s, what more do you want from a film.

Watched Mad Max Fury Road the other day...I enjoyed it, it was a good film.

I can't understand all the people who think its one of the best films of the year though, the less said about Tom Hardy's performance the better, at points I'm sure he still thought he was playing Bane.

Theron alone makes Mad Max one of the best films of this year. She's fantastic

It's absolutely lush on the big screen (and in 3D too).

She is and it did look good, I watched in 3D on a 48" screen.

There were just a few things that put me off it a little (Tom Hardy being one) and I didn't feel like it really went anywhere. Seemed like a setup for driving and explosions without any real substantial plot.

Not that there is anything really wrong with that, and like I said I enjoyed the film. It just didn't really do enough for me to think of it as one of the best films of the year.

Mad Max didn't need a substantial plot, it's a simple story told in an extremely rich and well-realised world. Half the story of the that film is what actually happens, the other half is the context of that world and how it works.

Is it really? Or is it just a (decent) rehash of about a million other post apocalyptic worlds we've already seen.

It looks nice, but we just don't see enough of how the world works to say its in any way a well-realised world. In fact its pretty damn shallow.

Because it did not have to, it was a giant car chase, which was visually stunning. It was a throwback to big dumb action films, and it avoided anything that would slow it down, and I think they were right to.
