People will probably think I'm winding them up with this list! But I love what I love

Image
Madonna - Hard Candy
Very few people can put on a show like Madonna, and every new album brings with it a fantastic new tour, which are always a riot. Nowhere near as great as Confessions, but 4 Minutes, Give it 2 Me, Miles Away and The Devil Wouldn't Recognize are all great!

Image
Goldfrapp - Seventh Tree
I was skeptical. Folk music, Goldfrapp. But it's breathtaking!

Image
Aimee Mann - @#%&*! Smilers
From the moment i saw Magnolia i wanted everything by this lady! Really melancholic vocals, and this album more than makes up for the bizarre move of making a Christmas album.

Image
TempoShark - The Invisible Line
I would never have bought this if it were not for the Imogen Heap duet. So glad I did, because it was really fantastic. Very 80's!

Image
Britney Spears - Circus
Blackout was one of the most under-appreciated Pop albums ever! More fool anyone who ignores it because of the artist behind it. It's been a little over 24 hours since i've had my hands on this. It's no Blackout, but its fantastic all the same. Even The Sunday Times gave this 4 stars!

:P

Grats.

To be fair his musical taste does somewhat revolve around CD'd that feature Slash...

Or any half-decent guitar solo.

Didn't Jimmy release this late 2007?

Still what an amazing album! Dizzy and Chase this Light showed that Jimmy are still the kings of slow burning melody. By far the most underated band this decade.

Good call on Attack Attack! I have followed these guys since catching them play with Lostprophets at the Astoria, they are so genuine and love what they are doing. Managed to catch them again at Newcastle academy wednesday just gone and they looked like they were having a ball. Much better then Kids in glass houses who's album just felt like a bunch of singles throwing together (much prefer the rawness of their ep).

Loved this as well. Senses Fail, Life isn't a waiting room.

:D I forgot about that one! That's going in my list.

I've not bothered with that. Keep forgetting about it.

Mind, I did get Uh on 7" when it was released.

I'm not sure what I think of albums released this year. I'll get back on that one.

Lord for £39 by Neil Landstrumm.

Best electronic album this year, when it comes to the sheer bassy bassiness of it anyway, it's got the appeal for nerdy idm fans with all the attention to detail, but then the slack jawed raver could get groovy to this any day of the week too, i'll upload it inna bit.

The only good album I've listened to this year is Death Magnetic, but I haven't listened to that much truth be told.

The Verve's comeback was disapppointing, as was Bloc Party's. Not a good year for albums.

By rawness, what you actually mean is there's nothing on Smart Casual that comes close to touching the greatness of Telenova. And Historia, come to think of it.

You are right though - Smart Casual does suffer a bit from potential-single-syndrome, but it's a ace little 40 minute blast of unashamed fun. Which always goes down smooth with me.

Attack Attack's album is great stuff though, there's certainly a bit more substance to it than other albums of it's ilk

In this order my favourite albums are:

Luciano- Fabric 41
Ricardo Villalobos- Vasco
Kings of Leon- Only by the night
Paul Kalkbrenner- Berling Calling
Dinky- May be later
Cat power- Juke box
The Wombats- The Wombats Proudly Present a Guide to Love, Loss and Desperation
Pendulum- In Silico
Loco Dice- 7 Dunham Place
Deadmau5- Random Album Title

Oh and I listened to that Meshuggah and all I can say is that was the biggest load of shite I have ever had the displeasure of torturing my ears with. If you really want to listen to noise why not just buy the complete back catalogue of Merzbow and become a deaf recluse who cant stand to be in the sun for more than 5 minutes.

Yeah, someone else! I was sure I didn't dream that album.

Also, delighted with the amount of replies mentioning The Slip. It's a really solid album, and considering it's free, inexcusable not to own if you like that kind of thing. Discipline is my favourite song of the year.

Not heard that one yet. Getting it....now.

Btw, I had The Gasman's 'Superlife' as one of my contenders, so if anything, it shows that 2008 has been a beaut for Planet Mu releases.

From the ones i've heard in the OP, pretty much in that order. Not many of them that i have heard, i also tend to buy albums from years passed.
