It's been a gruelling few weeks, at least for me. But I've finally gotten the Top Trumps: GRcade Edition Series 1 cards complete. And lo, there was much rejoicing and celebration.
I could just post them all up in the OP, or indeed, I could do a typical AI/DML style drawn out post by post reveal. Neither of these appeal to me. The quick release won't do all the hard work justice. Being subjected to slow reveals for many a year naturally makes me against that idea.
So instead the reveal is going to be slow yet interactive. The cards will only be revealed once they are in play.
Rules and Regulations of TT:GRStep 1: Registration by PMIn order to register to play TT:GR you must PM me with
3 numbers from between 1 and 48 and be one of the persons that has been on the many voting lists that you have been filling in over the last few week. The numbers will select the three TT:GR cards that will accompany your personal card in your deck.
Step 2: Set up by PMIf you are successful in your application, I will send you the card data by PM, which must stay confidential. The same will be done to your competitor. You are then to order your four cards from top to bottom in the sequence you would like to use the cards. Alongside your card order you are to select the category that will be played when that particular card is selected. Your PM back to me should read similar to this:
1st Forumite X - Avatar Recognition
2nd Forumite Z - Grammar
3rd Myself - Avatar Recognition
4th Forumite Y - Humour
Step 3: Round 1 in ThreadYour decisions by PM will be compared with your competitor's choices. One of you will randomly be drawn to 'pick' a category first. I will then run through the results for the first run of play in the play, whilst revealing the data on each of your cards in the thread for your competitor and public to view. Each card you win is added to your deck whilst each one that is lost is taken from your deck. If both cards have the same number for a category, those cards are rolled over and are won on the result of the card.
Step 4: Re-order your deck by PMI will then PM you the deck you have after the results of Round 1. You are then free to re-order the cards and re-pick categories for each card as in Step 2. However, as you are now aware of which turns you may pick categories on, so you only need to pick categories on those cards: Sounds complex? See below:
Gets to pick first:
1st - Forumite Z - Humour
2nd - Forumite A
3rd - Myself - Grammar
4th - Forumite X
5th - Forumite C - Debating Skills
6th - Forumite B
If you knew you were picking second, you would only have to provide categories for 2,4 and 6.
Step 5: Round 2 in ThreadThe same as Round 1, the results are posted in the thread. However, if there is a unbalance in the size of decks between the two players (ie 6 cards vs 4 cards), the round stops when the person with less cards has gone through their deck once. That player then gets to reorder their remaining cards via PM and play continues against the other player's next card in his deck. So the player with 6 cards will be using his 5th card from Round 2 to play his competitors 1st card from Round 3. Special rules may be introduced during Rounds 3 or 4 if a game is deadly even.
NB: There is no restrictions on category choices. You can choose the same category after each round.
VictoryPlay will continue like this until one player has all the cards, and that player is the winner.
Alternatively, whoever has the most cards after five rounds will be declared the winner.
