Torchlight. Best loot-em-up RPG of the YEAR!!!

I noticed this thread, so I installed the demo on Steam. It's a bit good, isn't it?

I think I might have made a mistake diving in on hard, though, as I've never really played many game like this, and I soon found myself outnumbered, and got my arse handed to me in the second level of the mines. :fp:

I don't really like it :shifty:

Kinda repetitive :shifty:

Plus I have to pick up every single little thing I see which just makes for lots of inventory screen arranging/giving to pet/selling/etc.

Still gotta try the demo of this, especially now Diablo III might not even be out 'til 2011! :evil:

Diablo-likes abound. Excellent ones are few and Torchlight is the best of them yet. Granted, it lacks multiplayer but given the pedigree of the developers (many of which are the same people that brought you the first two Diablo games) it should be small wonder that Torchlight feels like an evolution of the gameplay type rather than an also-ran. Arthur Gies from the RebelFM podcast and Eat. Sleep. Game. came over to talk with Matt about why any Diablo fan not caught up exclusively on multiplayer should give this one a go.

Torchlight makes for a remarkably entertaining 10 to 15 hours, with plenty more custom content to come thanks to the powerful game editor TorchED, which you can download free of charge. Even if you aren't waiting impatiently for Diablo III, you should strongly consider picking up Torchlight. At a mere $20, it's one of the best values of the year.

I hate that twatface Matt Chandronait but I watched the segment on Torchlight.

The two things I took away from it are that it looks a lot more in depth in terms of stats than I originally thought and that he's still a bender.

Hopefully it'll be on offer on Steam between now and Christmas. Otherwise I'll just torrent it until then.

If I do do that though, is it possible to move my saved game into my Steam copy?

Still. This is awesome. I love sending your pet back to town.

Played this at a mates yesterday and reached level 10. Really enjoyed it. Noticed it was half price on Steam, so had to buy it. Currently level 6 and it's brilliant.

I knew this was gonna be half price on Steam before Xmas.

Best part is the new update includes Steam Cloud so all settings and saved games can be downloaded on any PC.

I need to stop playing this today. 4.2 hours already. :wub:

It's good fun though although there doesn't seem to be a tutorial?

There are little pop-ups and stuff as you go.
