Well thank you :D

Love this so far, just a good bit of hacking, slashing, and tasty loot grabbing.

Enjoying the alchemist, lvl 13 now and it appears to be getting harder (playing on normal) came close to dying a bit earlier. I love my army of summons and pet (cat, four imps, a construct, and a summoned sword at last count), and the game slides along at a great pace, hopefully Diablo 3 is this slick when it comes to loot grabbing.

The locations are intriquing and I'm enjoying the light story, in a way the streamlined simplicity of the game is wonderfully refreshing, except the actual amount of spells you can pop and tactics you can use make the gameplay undoubtedly rewarding.

Just a blast to play, cheers Staying Deads.

Picked this up as well. Damn Steam sales :x :D

Anyway, what difficulty are you guys playing on? I only ask because I heard on a podcast that normal is way too easy.

Yeah, I'll probably start on normal, just to avoid any possibility of frustration later on.

Normal so far does seem very easy; but it's supposed to sort itself out at later levels

I started on Hard, what with not being a God damn pussy and all.

It's not too bad so far but I've died about 8 times and not even finished the first dungeon yet. I never played Diablo though so have no prior experience and most of those were on one section. Picking it up all quite fast though.

I'm playing the tank class.

Most of what I've heard about the games difficulty seems to suggest normal is fine if you're new to this sort of game like me (I don't count a Bards Tale on Xbox) but slightly too easy for Diablo veterans.

Normal does seem to, as suggested, get suitably harder as you get into it as well.

I'll be playing on hard after I play on normal.

Is there any way to increase your mana as a tank?

And is there any point in me putting points into magic when the spell based damage is mostly calculated on a percentage of my weapon's max damage?

Also the spell toolbary thing needs to be longer. Only 5 is a bit tight.

It goes up to 10. Look on the other side of the UI.

This has crept in as a late contender in my GOTY list

Have shared the love by buying it for a friend's birthday.

8-)
Glad some people are liking this. The game just didn't get much love on this forum when it first came out. The game krept out of nowhere for me and blew me away. It's certainly in my top 5 of the year and I stand by the topic title of it being the best "loot-em-up" RPG this year. Well I certainly have enjoyed it more than Borderlands.

I think it got a fair bit of love when it came out, just not on here. It came out at a busy time and it was fairly obvious it'd be cheap soon on Steam, so a lot of people waited.

I've enjoyed it more than Borderlands, Borderlands lacks a real soul and the story is a flimsy mess, in co-op it's great fun but then the trappings of being an FPS muddle the simple RPG mechanics with a required degree of 'skill', and many of the stats seem completly unrequired and garbage.

Torchlight on the other hand has the things absolutely essential for an RPG, a town, and obvious story progression and NPC's you can talk to and know. Borderlands should have been third person as well as, whilst weapon loot is one thing, seeing your character evolve from a cloth garbed nobody to a goggle wearing, bulked out, crackling beacon of pure energy is one of the true joys of the RPG, but in Borderlands the only thing you can change is colour.

Also, Torchlight is wonderfully fast paced and fair, never more than two minutes away from something you can whack.
