I'd call a couple pipe-hittin' n*****s, who'd go to work on him with a pair of pliers and a blow torch.

That's what I'd do. When will these public-school toffs realise that they are not above the law? They're no better than their GREEDY banking mates who have destroyed our economy! :fp: :x

Just thought I'd ask politely again, is all.

My lord, the police are evil and corrupt because they use the term 'groomed' and the Tories see an opening to make a fuss from nothing so stage a protest. Because of a word.

A total of around 20 anti-terrorist officers involved in 3 searches of an MP's home and offices (including his office in Parliament) is hardly "nothing".

Brown has been very silent on this matter. Unsurprisingly.

Saying they take exception to the police force's vocabulary is though.

The police didn't have a warrant for the office :fp:

For the Commons.

They just sort of turned up and said "Hey. Can you let us in please we'd like to poke around?" and the SoA/Speaker agreed.

The Sergent At Arms didn't know she could refuse this and demand a warrant, and the police "didn't make that option clear". The speaker...was off somewhere and not involved. You can't blame him. At All.

Although he knew in advance they may come along and want to search an MPs office, but didn't bother sorting little things like that up (Didn't know which MP)

There's gotta be a vote of no confidence, surely?

This, if I understand correctly, makes the Tory footage more relevant. The police couldn't/shouldn't have been "ordering" people out of office, turn off camera if they were invited guests, not "warranted" in.

Except that most people think I make this stuff up. Still, it is fun to watch MPs getting all indignant when their instrument of repression turns on themselves - what fun to spot the unmistakable flash of fear behind their eyes when they see one of their own kind have his home and workplace arbitrarily searched, computers seized etc. How satisfying to see these f*cking idiots witness, first hand, the results of their own bad law put into action against themselves.

Yes, I'm a conspiracy theorist. Turns out, with very good reason. 8-)

What was the Conservative position on the terror laws, out of curiosity?

Except, as has been pointed out numerous times (by Atreyu, for example), this arrest/search had NOTHING TO DO with the anti-terror laws you're banging on about. So why do you keep returning to the same incorrect point?

While we're back on this, Cal, any chance that you could take a look at that question I asked a few days ago?

That made Paxman's reputation, but he says he only repeated the question so many times because he'd run out of things to ask!

EDIT: Christ, the text on that video is Godawfully irritating.

After the news broke last week that four addresses had been raided, Scotland Yard said it had had warrants for all of them.

But, shortly before the Speaker's statement, acting Metropolitan Police commissioner Sir Paul Stephenson revised the detail, saying just three warrants had been issued, while the Commons search had been "consensual".

When asked about this, a Scotland Yard spokesman said there had been "no deliberate attempt to mislead".

It just gets worse and worse :D
