RIP in peace.

I haven't been on a YouTube binge for a couple of years, but 2 -3 years ago I watched a lot of TotalBiscuit's videos, and he got me interested in some indie games that I might otherwise have missed. Seemed like a decent guy that always spoke his mind in a world where most people's opinions are paid for.

It's awful that strawberry-floating cancer has taken the guy at such a young age. RIP.

I always thought for sure he was going to survive this, but sadly not even someone as mentally strong as him can survive something like this.

I'm going to admit that I was never his fan, so I never followed his content. I do respect everything he did for eSports though and feel so sad that this has happened. It's awful, awful news for someone to die that young

RIP TB! From a fellow British Starcraft caster (I do BW though), I will continue to do everything I can to improve eSports. I may not be as well known as you were, but you inspire me to try even harder. No matter what was hitting you, no matter how bad you must've felt you still gave your absolute all to make things for the community. Thank you for everything.

Terrible news. He's the same age as me so it puts things into perspective.

I'll respect him most for his championing of consumer rights and attacking the bad practices from some of the big companies. I guess it's down to guys like Angry Joe and Jim Sterling now to carry that mantle.

Thinking of his wife, who has been widowed at an incredibly young age. I think the plan was for her to keep some of his shows going, but that's a big ask.

I don't know anything about the guy and if I'm honest it affects me more because he's the same age and I don't like being reminded of morality. Whatever he's done I sympathise with the family as this is bloody awful.

He was younger than me? :dread:

It's a shame alright. Liked some of the stuff he'd done before and Cancer's an absolute banana split.

Very sad. Can't say I was always onboard with him and his opinions (the CoxCon debacle springs to mind, although (of course) he was perfectly entitled to his response), but I enjoyed a great many of his WTF IS..? videos over the years and I thought he was generally one of the more professional YT content producers so I could always make time for him. Cancer's a miserable, wretched business and I truly his admire TB's courageous approach to his own illness. It was inspirational (god knows, we'll all have to face our mortality one day). 33 is no age at all. Cancer's a c*nt and there by the grace of God - or sheer good fortune - go the rest of us. RIP.

Wow. He made the front page of BBC News right now.

Clearly had a higher-profile outside gamers than I though.

I didn't watch any of this stuff or really know who he was, but if he's as popular as it seems, one upside that can come out of this - you'd hope - is that his followers/viewers will be more aware of some of the impact of something like bowel cancer, as well as the symptoms, and perhaps be more willing to take action if they experience any of them themselves. When it comes to life and death issues like this, you can't let embarrassment get in the way of taking action (not saying he did, I don't know the background, but I'd imagine plenty of people would avoid going to the doctor about potentially embarrassing symptoms). Must be awful for his family for him to die so young.

I used to listen to his WoW stuff about ten years ago, and while I was never really a fan, I wouldn't say I disliked him either. He's just not someone who's opinion I'd go looking for. Still find this pretty sad though.

It also reminds me how I dont like people talking about fighting and beating cancer. I'm all for empowering people that are ill, but that sort of talk also gives the impression that people who die of it didn't fight hard enough, or weren't tough enough. It's an awful disease and most of the time there's nothing that can be done.

I didn't know it was bowel cancer. My grandad died of that after several years, but I believe he was around 80. That's a massive void for when this "ought to" occur. It was very difficult to watch. One of the most inspirational things is how gracefully most people deal with it.

My granda died of the same thing. It was not very pleasant to witness.

RIP

I wasn't a big fan of his personally but I appreciate he helped pave the way for gaming youtube to be what it is now right enough. When I was a kid I clamored for more gaming TV shows like gamesmaster and the like and now youtube is my haven. So it's always sad when someone in that community dies.

That being said, and I'm really not trying to be incendiary, I didn't agree with a lot of his opinions/politics.
