Just don't look any of them in the eye as you raid their discounted Lego. Job done.

I doubt it'll go under the business is profitable but it has a load of debt. Somebody will buy it up.

It's the preferred venue for the wife and I to spend our Tesco vouchers at (free meal/date night once a month, woohoo!), but there's always ASK, Pizza Express and Zizzi to fall back on should we need to.

Tesco clubcard points can be traded in at 3 times their value for restaurant vouchers, so every month we spend our accrued points on a meal out. Doesn’t include drinks but you can quite easily have a nice meal for a couple of quid.

Yes. They are owned by the same company as prezzo. All chimichanga restaurants are going and some prezzo's.

Still at x4 until June isn't it? It was extended following complaints after they reduced it to x3 without notice.

My store has 20% off everything. No consoles unfortunately but loads of overpriced games that are probably still more than Amazon with 20% off - not really that surprising that they find themselves in this position.

Maplin has nothing on sale yet......

Yes?

The maplin near me seems to have everything on sale. Don't know what I'd bother to buy from them though.

Apparently Lego bought all of their stock back as they didn't want it being discounted.

I suppose they don’t want Toys R Us’ downfall cheapening their brand.

Yeah I actually expected this to happen. Lego are very controlling over the prices of their products. A lot of the discounts have to be authorised by them as part of the contract when they purchase stock from them.

Well, this is sad. Prezzo's at least, never had a Chimichanga so can't comment

With no discounted Lego and no bargains on games there isn’t anything that I want from Toys R Us and like lex-man I can’t think what I would want from Maplin even if everything was in the sale

After realising that Toys R Us are still open, I took my lad there this afternoon.

We had a great time! He loved getting in all of the electric kids cars (and the Star Wars Landspeeder), loved the playhouses, loved looking at the Peppa Pig toys and best of all LOVED the massive animatronic T-Rex that they had in there. He was scared close up, but was staring and waving at it whenever we were slightly further back.

I didn’t buy anything so it was a great free hour out. Cheers Toys R Us!

Oh and Richard, they had plenty of Lego in there, it was at 10% off, but I don’t know how competitive their “full” price is to know if the Lego in there was a bargain.

Their discounted Lego is still more expensive than Amazon’s normal priced Lego. In some cases it’s still above lego’s RRP.

Called in yesterday on my way home and it was like the seventh circle of hell. Kids screaming everywhere, entitled parents with shitloads of crap complaining it was “only” 20% off, and nothing that I would have actually purchased left in stock. Disaster.

RIP.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-43411051
Toys R Us will close or sell all its 885 stores in the US after failing to find a buyer, putting about 30,000 jobs under threat.

Chief executive Dave Brandon said it was a "profoundly sad day" for the retailer.

The giant toy-store chain was already in the process of closing one fifth of its shops after filing for bankruptcy protection last year.

Toys R Us will also close all its UK stores by the end of April.

The UK collapse will put more than 3,000 people out of work as a dismal period for the retail sector continues.
