Trading in PS3 region 1 games at Game/Gamestop etc?

I have a few games bought from Canada that I wanna trade in and I'm wondering if anyone's done it before. If so, how'd you get on? Is it just a case of slipping the game past them quickly and hoping they don't notice? Or do they allow it outright? The games are completely region free after all.

As far as I know GAME won't take them. Only place I know that definitely will is Grainger, maybe CeX but I'm not sure.

GAME wont take them because the barcodes are different and wont scan into their system. Grainger Games will take them as they sell both used and new American games (and they don't even bother to tell the buyer) but that's the only place I know for sure that will take them.

I was just coming to this bit to ask if a clearly marked region 1 us ps3 game (it has the icon prominently on the spine) will play ok on my uk ps3? I know they're region free but this is a surprise present so i can't open and check, PLUS its come from UK amazon and said nothing about being an import, so i may send it back.

All PS3 games are region free. It will play fine.

In answer to your question, I know my local indie takes them as they have them marked as imports on the shelves.
