The MagicMarker thing was all in PMs to the mods.

Well, no, not really.

I'm no tech but I like the idea of clocking 1000+ posts before the Trading Post even opens, no idea how that can be done though.
You have to be a member to view it though, I think.

1000 post blocker wouldnt have helped. In fact, it wouldnt have helped in any instance so far of members scamming people.

For the most part, sticking to PayPal for payments, never sending goods before receiving payment, and keeping proof of postage (recorded delivery even better) should be enough to keep all trades pretty safe.

This being a game for game swap was a bit trickier unfortunately.

I do think it was a good idea having the symbols underneath our avatars to show who is a regular poster and who isn't. Just get rid of the silly member names that came with them.

We still have the names!

You know what I mean - 'Steve's Mum' etc.

Yeah but what I'm saying is that we could feasibly get those symbols back but still have everyone listed as 'Member'.

I think the reason they were axed was because they made the place look cluttered.

In many instances it does stifle discussion, look at their threads on the this stupid Zoe Quinn thing recently, where any form of oppositional view is not met with attempts to educate but a parade of verbal put-downs and red arrows pointing down that accomplish nothing.

It's a super easy system to abuse. I have something like 582 rep out of 621 posts. The Zoe Quinn thread is one sided, the one time I tried to say I thought it was just people making a big deal out of a small thing for the sake of it I got a telling off and was accused of being part of the larger problem. Since then I've decided not to argue but just get easy post reps by saying how much I dislike the behavior of the people making death threats and acting like idiots (also expressing my dislike for the current popular system used for judging games but that's an whole other topic).

Was MM the one that got himself laid in the relationship thread?

He was clearly making it up. But I think that was him, I knew he was familiar from something.

Ah, I was wondering why I haven't seen MagicMarker post in good while. That was shitty thing from him :( Jimmy shocked me, as I genuinely thought he was one of nicest posters on here - couldn't believe he'd do runner. Hopefully over Rllmuk he'll get called on it.

I looked on the rllmuk trading ban and saw this

Jamie Harvison aka Jigger_Jay
Wellingborough, Northants. Banned from here for abuse, he was banned from trading before that (and doubly banned from the "For Free" thread).

Isn't he a member here?

Ive traded with Jigger a few times, always a decent guy. Im sure I recall him mentioning that ban years ago and the explanation at the time seemed ok enough.

Yeah, he told GRcade few times he's been banned on rllmuk trading post, not seen any problems from him on GRcade trading post at all.
