PostTrading Post Guidelines - PLEASE READ

Hi all,

One of the things I love about GR is The Trading Post. Many dozens of you have used it - found a bargain, or some sweet swag you've been after for ages, or done someone a real favour, or straight up given free stuff away.
Obviously - with all trades across all areas of life - there's an element of trust involved. Pay for goods, receive goods. Not rocket science, no, and the level of trust we place in each other is really quite high, when you think about it. We're not exactly sending key rings or hubcaps (unless you err, actually do).
Unfortunately someone has taken it upon themselves to betray this trust, not honouring the trade agreement and has literally done a runner.
From memory, this is the 3rd time that this has happened since GRcade was formed. Lonely Angel, Jimmy Shedders and now MagicMarker are permabanned from this forum, and will never return under any circumstances. Ever.
It's theft, it's fraud, and it's not fair on the 99.9% of us who use The Trading Post well.
We're certainly open to suggestions on how to improve The Trading Post for you, but all I and all the staff want to say is - please respect each other when entering into any trade agreement. If you break said agreement by basically being a thieving scumbag then your membership here will be revoked permanently.
To the trader this has affected, and to all the other cool kids who use The Trading Post properly, I can only apologise for any inconvenience and/or loss of goods.
Remember, if you have any doubts about any trades you get involved with, please let myself or another member of staff know straight away.
Cheers all,

Buff

You know what I couldn't put my finger on why, but just something seemed off with that MagicMarker. I honestly thought he was lonely angel or vesp.

Yep I noticed something odd about him from the start. You're not the only one who though the was Lonely Angel too, a few of the mods (including myself) thought the same but upon closer investigation and some digging it seems to be someone different.

I should also add we reached out numerous times after an extensive investigation. Sadly for legal reasons we can't pursue MagicMarker as he seems to have provided a made up one off email for this forum, although we have identified him elsewhere. MM failed to provide evidence to falsify the default suspicion of fraud after 2 claims to have dispatched goods that were never received, pending a 3rd at the time. We were unable to corroborate any of his claims, and ultimately forced to respect the member affected who did provide evidence they fulfilled their part of the trade. The apparent total disappearance of MM in this case leaves us with no further action to take than remove him permanently.

Please be vigilant when engaging members in trade with no prior history, eg the person with feedback should receive goods first. Even when someone appears to have an extensive involvement in the wider community, this sadly does not necessarily mean they are trustworthy or otherwise choose to be respectful within this community.

The fact that MM appears to be a moderator amongst a gaming community on another very large forum makes this all the more surprising for us. But the lack of defense means we can only assume the worst, and don't want anyone to fall victim or think that this behaviour is acceptable.

Grcade will remain vigilante against any and all fraudulent, indecent, exploitative or otherwise disrespectful behaviour where certain privilege and community trust is involved and act accordingly. Please let us know if you suspect you are a victim of rogue traders or any other abusive of trust such as this.

Don't PayPal offer protection if you use them to make payments and select "Pay for Products and Services" ? It means an additional cost due to fees but if there is the protection then might be worth recommending using that.

I don't mean this in a nasty way against the feedback thread OP, but that thread hasn't been updated in bloody ages.

This was a swap so sadly that couldn't be exploited. :(

Maybe we should come up with a feedback system that is built in or at least an app somewhere.

If you guys are happy to do something like that, then ok sure. Not trying to force you to. Just think that thread needs constant attention from the OP and it doesn't look like it's getting it atm.

Maybe a sub-site for trades that uses the account but all comms go through the site etc.

could a score be built into your profile, with it appearing it underneath your pic if you want, that a mod can update upon receiving a pm from someone to give feedback or by the thread been updated regularly?

I think that stuff should be lodged and audited, ideally. So you can open a case on it and check stuff out. Also valid contact details should be made available, it's the least you can do. It shouldn't be difficult to write a feedback field into profiles from that.

Trouble is that would take ages. People should be able to just give someone feedback whenever, since that's what they do already. Maybe to avoid spam, it would require a link to the trading thread post in question.

Can you give a brief summary as to the severity of each of the three's crimes, so I have an idea just how disgusted I should be? I have some of these people on social networks, but I don't want to be friends with thieving banana splits.
