Its a computer saying “well done you” - to me, it seems the most pointless activity going.

Shoot 101 watermelons for 10 points.

I’m not trying to be awkward, I’ve wanted to ask this a while....seems a perfect place.

Enlighten me chaps, what is the appeal to you?

Never played a game for a high score? This is like that, only on a larger scale. I totally see why some people aren't interested, but I enjoy the thrill of competing for achievements almost as much as I enjoy the games themselves.

Incidentally, these sites aren't just about willy waving, there's a whole bunch of interesting stats about your gaming life on there. Plus it tracks all your friends progress on a blog too, which is nice.

I'm struggling to link my account at the moment. It's struggling to collect my data, but I'd like to join up.

I think mine will show I play a lot of games, have a lot of achievements but don't really go in for the difficult/grinding or collectables.

[quote="more heat than light"]The website TrueAchievements, which measures gaming progress by scoring achievements based on rarity and stuff now has a sister site, TrueTrophies. We already have a GRcade leaderboard for TA, thought it would be nice for someone to set one up for the Sony folk. Let's get some competitive gooseberry fool going! :)

The GRcade TrueAchievement leaderboard.
The GRcade TrueTrophies leaderboard[/quote

Wait a minute, I'm sure I used to be on the true achievements forum leaderboard but now I'm not. By my estimation I'd be seventh I think. This needs to be redressed ;)

Dat Hanna Montana :datass:

I think my Blur platinum makes up something like 800 points alone.

Don't know how the developers work out the points or gooseberry fool like that. I don't understand why some hard games have less points than the easier ones.

But still, I'm proud of my MGS2 Vita platinum trophy. :datass:

I think he meant through TrueTrophies rather than the devs where trophies are allocated values dependent on how many people have them. So the rarer a trophy, the large its value will be, especially if it's a platinum trophy.

I've got so few achievements that it's not even worth bothering to register for that one :dread:

Been on the Trueachievements for yonks, its a fun way of seeing how popular a game is, or how soon people quit. Any game that has a massive Trueachievement Score for finishing it, usually means the game is a bit crap as people give up - see my Damnation score.

I really like achievements as it panders to the OCD side of my personality, a meta game within every game I play. I don't mine games for achievements, but will gladly do a few silly things to get one. The best achievements are always those that encourage you to play the game in a differnet way e.g. the classic Crackdown achievement for squashing people with globe - without this achievement, doing this would have never even cross my mind and it was great fun.

Just thought I'd give this a little nudge. There must be loads of GRcaders that have jumped onto team Sony this gen, but the TrueTrophies leaderboard is still lagging behind with only 19 people. C'mon guys, let's get competitive! :)
