Has anyone else been affected by this? I’ve £2000 stolen from their account and still waiting for a call back from the TSB fraud team 3 weeks later :x

I was lucky enough to not lose any money, but I needed bank statements for a mortgage appointment the other day and the period of my statements during their meltdown are seemingly gone.
All things considered I seem to have gotten off pretty lightly.

3 Weeks is a disgrace though. Can't you escalate it to the FCA or ombudsman or something?

Just leave. Its a disgrace, i know someone who worked at lloyds and said this would happen as TSB have relied on lloyds tech infrastructure since they split. They've basically bodged it.

Utter gooseberry fool.

I joined them when they brought out that 5% interest, 5% cashback on contactless up to £100, but they've cut the limits a lot.
Used to be 5% on up to £2,000 (or might have even been £3,000), but now it's only £1,500. And cashback is limited to £10/month, £5 for having 2 direct debits and £5 for using your debit card 20 times in a month.

You’ve first got to lodge a complaint with the bank, give them a chance to fix it then raise it with the financial ombudsman. They have 8 weeks.

I’ve reported it to Actionfraud and got a crime number, I’ve been contacted by journalist Simon Read (a financial editor for the independent among other things) who is doing a piece on it in the Evening Standard and was asked if I wanted to go on bbc breakfast tv and talk about it (I politely declined, I’m much to sweary for that kind of thing!).

But as for TSB nothing.

I switched banks last week to ensure this month’s wages wouldn’t disappear.

Plus we can pay you a fiver for every GRcade in joke you say on air.

"I was on the phone to them and the said 'piss off n00b, you don't have the credit limit to pull this off.'

Then another person said to file my complaint in the fridge with the toilet roll', which was 'over there by the beef burgers'."

"But at the end of the call they told me to 'stick around, we'll go bowling'."

I just returned to Lloyds after getting fed up of HSBC randomly locking out my debit card every few months and for no justifiable reason.

It took me a day to speak to the correct fraud dept. Once I’d explained the £2k leaving my account wasn’t authorised by me and I had no money to see me through the month, I asked what they could do to assist me. “Nothing. Is there a friend you can borrow money from?” was their come back. In branch I asked if my DDs would be honoured. “No. You’ll have to cancel them.”

In total, I’ve spent around 5 hours phoning them, 3 hours in my branch, another hour in my new bank sorting things out and countless hours phoning up service providers that I’m sorry payment is late but all my money was stolen, I’ll pay you on pay day and setting up new DDs.

TSB owe me strawberry floating big time.

In my bank, the lady at the desk said 'oh, it says on here that you're eligable for an increase in your credit limit' so i went and sat in one of their little rooms to speak to someone about it, then they were like 'you want a limit increase? well computer says no'

So why did you make me think i could have one in the first place?

That said, i only switched to that bank after NatWest closed my local branch (the bastards).

No. Their systems have crashed, and as a result fraudsters have been able to take money from peoples exposed accounts.

No. Their systems have crashed, and as a result fraudsters have been able to take money from peoples exposed accounts.

I was reading an article about it earlier this morning from one guy who lost £20,000 before TSB sent him a fraud letter to let him know.

Though the same article also said that the rules are TSB have to refund your money by the end of the business day after you make them aware of the fraud.
Oh, and make sure that as well as returning your money they also pay you any interest you might have earned on it. And that they refund you any and all fees you've been charged for things like Direct Debits moving, or having to make payments via other methods since some service providers charge more for not paying by Direct Debit.

The holiday one :dread:

A woman I worked with previously had her savings drained by someone who had got her phone number cloned and they then used that to authorise transactions.

And she'll have no doubt clicked.on something or downloaded some gooseberry fool onto her phone. The tab thing is ridiculous tho.

Also what type of bank sends you a strawberry floating fraud letter. Nationwide do the same.

It's not just money being taken but personal details as well.
One of those articles mentioned someone tried to take out a mobile phone contract and passed security questions using details they'd obtained from TSB, such as Direct Debit amounts.
Another one mentions a £9,000 loan being taken out and deposited into the TSB account, before the money was withdrawn along with other savings.

To be honest I hadn't realised just how bad it was. I really did make a lucky escape and should probably switch while I still have the chance :dread:
Might have a look around at the offers available at the moment for switching with various banks that have branches nearby.

I've been concerned for some time how we are reliant on online finances. Assuming there is a paper trail or backups, all of this will be resolved eventually, but this could be too late for people suffering now.

But what happens if there is a catastrophic failure or attack leaving backups wiped or partially wiped? How would you prove how much money should be in your account and potentially worse, how would you prove a debt was cleared?

Yes?
