Remember we had this thread a decade back...

t:tv-license?f=7

10 years later, in the age of Netflix, is your stance the same or has it changed?

Personally, I don't think I'll miss it anymore. The only shows of theirs I've watched over the past 3 years have been Planet Earth/Blue Planet, Sherlock and MOTD.

Most of my viewing these days is taken up my a combination of Amazon, Netflix and NowTV which, for my tastes, offer much better value for money.

I'm watching BBC 1 from Northern Ireland live in Southampton right now in HD. its pretty great. I enjoy quite a few of their TV offerings and used to enjoy listening to BBC radio in the car when commuting so I feel like it's good value for money for that alone.

no.
any broadcaster concerned primarily with money will always be the mouthpiece of the person/s in charge.
plus adverts are awful.

I mean if Graham Norton's your kind of thing then great.

I just can't think of any shows I'd miss other than those mentioned in the first post if the BBC ended up folding.

EastEnders, Strictly, McIntyre, Bake off, Saturday Kitchen, Dr Who, Casualty, Holby... all complete gash.

I watched Blue Planet 2, that was cool. And Question Time is a constant delight/car crash.

Can't say I watch anything beyond that.

I go in for Pointless, Great British Railway Journeys (dont judge me), Give My Head Peace (NI programme), The Blame Game (NI again), Robot Wars, lots of the documentaries, Michael McIntyre's Big Show (ok you can judge me on this one), radio wise I enjoyed Simon Mayo and Today. Plus it can be nice to just leave it on sometimes if you just want background noise without actually watching the TV.

Like I say, lots of value for me.

I'm happy to pay to keep their local football radio coverage going.

I don't own a radio other than the one on my car, why their live commentary can't be accessed online is baffling.

Apart from Steve Wright's Serious Jockin (no G) I don't listen to their radio stations either.

I bet the people in favour of scrapping it use BBC services far more than they say. You want to see the closure of BBC News? And the BBC websites in their entirety?

It's usually because the clubs have exclusive rights to stream the commentary online through their paid service. That's certainly why Forest commentary isn't online, so I assume it's the same for others.

I'm usually not home when their news is on though if I do watch news on TV it's Channel 4. Have to say when it comes to broadcast TV and my limited viewing Channel 4 have been brilliant this last year or so.

I browse their weather and sports sites out of habit but there's plenty of alternatives for me.

More than happy with the license fee.

For what comes out of it in terms of the radio and TV programming, sports coverage, news, all of the web content, the impressive educational programs and services for both children and adults etc. I think it is phenomenal value.

In much the same way that I don't evaluate my contribution to the NHS or police services based solely on what I have personally got out of them, I see the benefit of the BBC extending far beyond just what it gives to me.

Nope. There is no substitute for TMS, I'm afraid.

Get rid. I'm happy to pay for Netflix and Amazon Prime but BBC can get tae strawberry float. I don't see why I should be made to pay for a luxury I don't want.

I am pro licence fee but anti TV Licensing. The company that handles collecting the fee are parasites. It should come from general taxation (and everyone who's ever worked for TV Licensing should be shot into the sun).

Haven't watched TV in 3 years, so yeah, I'm cool with not having to remind them I'm not paying every now and then. Would make things easier.

I watch their TV shows, listen to their radio shows, and read their websites. I reckon they deserve some money from me.

No, I watched ITV news once and that was enough to persuade me the licence fee is worth it.

I wish you could just buy it for one month only. I would buy it for the olympics.
