I guess it's no big surprise. I myself don't watch soaps anymore and haven't done in years.

Don't really watch TV anymore, but when I was somewhat internetless for a time and binged on TV, I did occasionally watch and enjoy an episode of Doctors when I saw it on. And probably would watch an episode if for some reason I had to watch TV and there wasn't much else on.

Hollyoaks was a guilty pleasure in my mid-teens. I knew it was straight trash, trashier than most of the others, but that was part of the charm. The other shows just seemed miserable. And I did like some of the storylines, like when Clare tried to kill off Max.

I believe I also briefly followed Eastenders but can barely remember a thing about it, apart from any of the 'iconic' characters. I remember enjoying Harry Hill's coverage of it and the other shows a good deal.

I hardly have the TV on anymore unless it's for Netflix.

The fire was around 8-9 months before the plane crash (though the fire episode was probably one of the finest episodes they ever did).

Neighbours went through a particularly rough patch around 2008-11, but then some new producers were brought on board and it's improved massively since.

Was 2008 when it moved to Channel 5 and went HD? My uni mates and I watched it, but for some reason as soon as it left the Beeb we all outgrew it.

Speaking of soap disasters:

Also the link to Brookside & Hollyoaks is the person who played Jacqui Dixion is not in Hollyoaks same character just different name due her going into witness protection in Brooookie.

Hollyoaks back in the day had some fit babes in it only fittest one now is Amanda Clapham who plays Holly Cunningham :datass: :datass:

Brookside was great, but then Channel 4 started dicking around with the broadcast times in order to purposely lose viewers so that they could then axe it.

It's like when Channel 5 decide to move an american series (they've done it with several US dramas over the years) from it's 9/10pm time slot to midnight, and then say they're axing it due to a lack of viewers. Well of course there's a lack of viewers, you moved it to bloody midnight you tools!

Used to watch Neighbours after CBBC all the time, but stopped when it went to Channel 5. Watched EastEnders a bit in the early 00's but haven't watched a soap for years now. Barely watch TV anymore.

The thing I liked about Neighbours and Home & Away is that they were places you wanted to live, they've been a great advert for the country and have inspired emigration from the UK.

Corrie and EastEnders are the complete opposite, they're dreary and, in my opinion, have helped glamourise chav culture.

I'm glad to see people are now abandoning them in droves.

I've been watching it since 1995, and as you were watching before the air disaster in 2005, you must remember Dee Bliss (Madeleine West).

That's very interesting
Last year, the actress rejoined the cast as a conwoman pretending to be Dee (Andrea Somers) who tricked Toadie out of a whole heap of money. They thought it was over, but now Sonya (Toad's 2nd wife) found out that she has turned up in a hospital in Hobart, only this may not be the fake Dee, it could well actually be the real Dee who was missing presumed dead after the wedding day disaster in 2003.

Don't like the use of 'finally' in Op.

Imagine actually sitting down and watching any of that drivel. The reason it's dying out is the sad strawberry floaters that watch them get the same voyeuristic buzz from Facebook so they just use that instead.

Typical Tuesday morning at the office...

People aged 18-39 - "Did you watch Game of Thrones last night?"

People aged 40-65 - "Did you watch Eastenders last night?

The world is going to be an infinitely better place once all the baby boomers have died off (barring relatives and loved ones of anyone on this forum, obviously)

Game of Thrones will be pretty gooseberry fool when everybody over 40 is euthanized under the NickPlan.

Used to watch Doctors as well but once Doctor Norks left what was the point.

Yeah, I think Arya and Bran's storylines make me want to reconsider my stance.
