Just realised that in order to plug in my component cable I have to unplug the HDMI cable.

I'll try it using component later, but I'll probably just stick to HDMI for a bit unless component has zero lag. Unfortunately I don't have surround sound or a stereo to connect to the tv.

There'll probably be a slight improvement, which can make a difference when playing the game.

Another possible way to cut down on the audio lag would be to use a splitter for the guitar cable and connect up to an amp. I've not done it myself but based on what I've read online it seems to have helped.

Thought this thread deserved a bump as 2014 is out on Friday. Anyone else getting it?

I pre-ordered the guitar bundle on Amazon. Got it for £120 before they hiked the price up. Clowns sent out the code for the pre-order track last week. But if you register the code on steam it also gives you the game too, bit of a strawberry float up

I've not mastered all of the songs yet but I think I've done most of the ones I like/enjoy playing. Might have a look as it's been a little while since I last played it.

I still need to preorder this. Probably going to get it from ShopTo. Not going to pay extra on Amazon/Steam just for Cherub Rock. Great song but I'll wait for a DLC sale.

Played a lot of the new version, the Jam Session mode is a lot of fun! Really can't wait to get it at home, pretty sure I will play it more than GTA.

My copy's been dispatched from ShopTo. Really looking forward to playing this tomorrow!

Songs from RS that haven't made across in the export are:

Eric Clapton “Run Back To Your Side”
Cream “Sunshine of Your Love
Seth Chapla “Jules”
Seth Chapla “Star Spangled Banner”
Chris Lee “Boss”

Not really too bothered by those songs not making it across.

It's here! But I can't install it until 6pm. Why can't I at least install it so it's ready to play this evening?

I know there's the VPN thing but my connection's bad enough as it is.

Gonna have to get this on payday. I didn't gel too much with the original game, but I think that was more about the track list. The songs in this new one appeal to me far more, so I might as well make use of the cable I already own.

Could someone who's never really played a guitar, essentially lean to play with this game? Or should one have basic ability using a guitar.

You can definitely go in with no experience at all. I did so with the first game and went from clueless to being able to play some of the easier songs in their totality.

This is me. Played 2 hours, my fingers are sore. It guides you through everything. Lessons even have videos to make it easier. Played a bit of R U Mine? by Arctic Monkeys and it breaks it down to just easy notes and once you do that it adds more notes the next time. I repeated the song another two times and it added a few more notes each time but it wasn't enough that I totally failed.
Plus it's always got three things recommended. So it's always making sure you progress.

This game is such an improvement from the original. For a start the menus are much better. They're a lot clearer and the song list has more sorting options.

One of the best changes is the riff repeater now being accessible during a song. Being able to adjust speed and difficulty together, among other things, will make it a lot easier for learning parts to songs.

I got a nice surprise when I found Cherub Rock in my song list. I didn't pre-order the game from Amazon or Steam, which is where the pre-order bonus was advertised.

Guitarcade is a lot better as well. A great variety of minigames and they're inspired by older arcade titles. Return to Castle Chordead is like House/Typing of the Dead with the cheesy voice acting intact. The minigames even have a progression system with goals, similar to smartphone games like Jetpack Joyride, which can add a score multiplier the further up you go.

If anyone's interested in Rocksmith, I'd say get 2014 with the cable and then get the original and the transfer licence when it's on sale to get the extra songs.

I'll get this if some Sonic Youth stuff appears as DLC. Alternate tunings are a bitch.

Is this worth getting if you're already a competent guitar player? I am quite intrigued by this game. I did enjoy Rock Band, but to be able to plug my own guitar in sounds excellent. Can you make up your own stuff? What sort of guitar lessons are included in the game? I hear there is a 'free' mode where a backing band plays along to you whilst you play whatever you want.. this sounds great as I've been practising guitar scales for improvised soloing....
