Just started laying this the other day. Never really dedicated much time to playing guitar before, but I'm really liking this so far. Took a while to get used to it, but I'm getting it now. Feels great when you're halfway through a song and finally nail a riff for the first time :D

Though I freaked out when it made me play an encore of a song I didn't know on my first gig and I suddenly had to start using the top three strings too D:

I never understand why people learn that way around. Learn proper guitar and you can play bass anyway, usually better than your bass player 8-)

I'd like to see a guitar player slapping, popping and doing other bass techniques.

Also, I enjoy playing bass, prefer the feel and sound of it.

This is very tempting. I've always wanted to learn.

So ignore the bundled guitar and go for the Fender squier or something?

That should do fine for a beginner though if you plan to play gutiar long term, I'd invest a tiny bit more in a nicer Fender guitar.

Is there anybody without guitar skills who has played Rocksmith and learnt something?

Yep, after only a couple of hours, I'm finding the right frets & strings without looking 85% or so of the time. I think that's good progress so far for a complete novice.

So far, I'm enjoying that Pixies track the most.

You'll do well to get a decent Fender for sub £200. If you're starting off from scratch, the Squier is fine.

I agree, I just like those sub £200 Telecasters. There's nothing wrong with a Squire to start out with, ignore me.

Been playing this more tonight, started the guitar career, it's SO boring on single note and doesn't ramp up the difficulty fast enough. Went back to bass, love playing Plug in Baby. :datass:

Change to combo and it'll be better for you.

That's pretty cool. I've got an old electric guitar which I never learnt to play properly. I just have to replace a string, tune it up, and get this!

I've been playing guitar for 14 years now and consider myself to be pretty good, but i'm looking forward to playing this for the little things you'll pick up here and there. There may be a track I'd never bother to learn but i'll play on this and pick up a little trick or two, even if its just a few notes of a riff that i'd never have thought to play in that way.

Plus, trophies for playing guitar :datass:

Thinking of making Borderlands 2 my last game for a very long time. I am just really getting into Rocksmith. Bought the 2400MSP pack last night and Freebird was so good to play even on combo. I might just start sinking hours into this.

So the GR Verdict is that this game actually helps you to learn playing guitar.... even if you have no experience?

It helps you to enjoy playing a song and also to learn how to do pretty much every trick. I have just pulled off some hammer ons last night which was awesome. You get to mute strings, bend strings etc. I think it's really very good. You'll need other things to back it up such as videos and tab reading as it doesn't tell the chord notes (though when you play a chord perfectly and know how it sounds then you'll know what notes any song is playing)

Thats pretty tempting, would love to give it a try maybe when i move out late next year if this is still around and my xbox still works.... would definitely like to be able to learn some guitar and this should be good... although I guess I could always get a cheap classic one and learn via youtube?

I have got the RB3 pro guitar and it does the job. I would need someone to tune it for me as I don't trust those tuning apps on iphone/ipad. The game will be aroudn a while and also it's out now on PC so you don't necessarily need an xbox/ps3. you'll need a cable though.
