See yet another example of a right wing poster calling a leftie a banana split. ;)

Although the only problem here is the word "banana split" doesn't fully do justice to what Galloway is.

If there's one thing that all sides of the political spectrum can agree on, it's the Galloway is a banana split. I bet even Saddam turned to his advisors after meeting Galloway and said "what a banana split".

It takes a really big banana split to make Saddam look like the morally superior guy in the room....

Al Murray has been dealing with stick from UKIP supporters pretty much since the Thanet result came out, so again, it's not just horrible lefties abusing people on Twitter.

Could you imagine if Galloway AND Lutfur Rahman got done for electoral offences in the same year. I think the feelgood factor would add a couple of billion to the economy

Hey guys i've got an old friend who is scottish and now lives in Canada,he started talking politics and it was very interesting. His thoughts are that the SNP are really popular all over the UK and everyone in England wanted to vote for them but couldn't so that's why they aren't running the country, people in England want the Scottish border to also be moved so far south it is below Manchester so Manchester would be part of Scotland officially and Scotland can go independent any time they like now they just haven't.

Thoughts?

Mr Galloway said he had added more information to his complaints under the Representation of the People Act concerning allegedly "false statements made with the intention of affecting the result of an election". His spokesman said the legal action was at an early stage.

Surely all parties are guilty of this? :slol:

I disagree, don't many large banks and corps base themselves in the UK so as to trade throughout the EU?

I thought Europe was pro regulation? One of the reasons UKIP got backing from the financial sector?

Back on footballers' wages very, very briefly... from F365 today.

The latest claim (this time from the Daily Mirror) is that Manchester City are prepared to pay Paul Pogba £250,000 per week after tax, which equates to £385,000 before HMRC take their share.

Obscene wages bring obscene tax contributions, too. Hard to complain too much about that.

Well he doesn't know a lot about UK politics. The SNP aren't really that popular in Scotland it's just they dislike all the other parties more.

We don't really have a credible alternative to Labour or Tory in England unless you're ignorant or racist.

My thoughts about the SNP follow on from a comment I saw posted in another place. The poster suggested that whenever we hear SNP members talking about nationalism for Scotland, we substitute 'England' and 'English' for 'Scotland' and 'Scottish' and ask ourselves whether such nationalist talk would be acceptable to the media in the way the SNP's seems to be?

And if not, why not? Could double standards possibly be at work? Perish the thought!

If there is no deficit by the time of the next election, then we can have a real debate on how would be best to run the country with that albatross gone from our necks. I'm looking forward to that, as no party in its current form has all the answers and I enjoy reading all the arguments for different policies.

The deficit won't be clear the deficit by then. The economy is growing at a snails pace and to the point where an intervening factor would easily make it negative, and so long as that continues the target is wildly optimistic even assuming there won't be any hiccups in the global economy in the next five years.

That's why I said 'if'. I'm not sure that the Tories will actually instigate this £12 billion of benefit cuts. We'll see. The economy isn't growing at a snail's pace - the British Chambers of Commerce's forecast is that it will grow by 2.6% this year and 2.5% in 2016. That isn't slow growth by anyone's measure, and is still well ahead of the Eurozone.

I personally doubt that the UK will be running a surplus by the time of the next election, but I do think - as I said above - that the time for a proper debate on how we should run this country in future should take place when we're in the kind of financial position where we can make potentially radical decisions without the burden of the deficit.

Depends on the type of nationalism. The nationalism from the SNP appears to be socially democratic without any racist and/or facist overtones. English nationalism always seems to end up with people chanting "send 'em back where they came from!" or "the foreigners are taking over our country!".

There is also the issue that the English are the dominant force on these islands. It's one thing for a minority to have pride in itself and another thing when it is the dominant force.

I think we should have an English parliament and we need to stop Scottish/Welsh/Northern Irish MPs voting on English only matters. English nationalism might work, but would need to be very careful not to fall into racism and xenophobia.

Where does it show that he bought that TV? People can get boxes without buying the product you know.

Where does the writing on his sign show that he is against all forms of capitalism? People can disagree with cuts and austerity without rejecting all forms of capitalism you know.

It's a really weird idea you have that all left wingers and/or anti-austerity protesters have to be dirt poor. People can want a fairer society, less cuts and increased socialism without wanting to become a full blown communist state.

It's the lack of self-awareness in the symbolism of the photo. I don't have the idea that left wingers have to be dirt poor at all.
