He's a twat but is actually coming across ok although he is helped by Piers Morgan being on the panel. He pissed off the feminists with the ugly girls comment though.

There is a reason why the laws in the EU are not drafted by a democratic body. Mainly, things ended up that way because none of the members states wanted to compromise their sovereignty by allowing an external elected body to drafted and vote on legislation that they would then have to adhere to, so they preferred a model more dependent on diplomats and bureaucrats working on the behalf of national governments. Of course, this is an instance of governments protecting their own power and not necessarily the power of their electorates...

Well when you have a woman from a party who claim "winning" an election in which only 30% of the population turned up to vote and where the gained doesn't actually make a blind bit of difference then I'm fairly certain she could make anyone seem un-twattish.

The UKIP woman was totally classless, kept interrupting and shouting over people, made all the worse when she had so little of value to say. And she told multiple lies in a flapping attempt to defend UKIP when they were called out on their own policies.

I despair that people are voting for these mentalists.

One thing the rise of UKIP has done though, is made me realise that actually, the Tories aren't so bad after all.

It still baffles me why anyone not in the top ten percent of earners would ever vote Conservative. I feel like shaking them and reminding them that if the tories had their way none of us plebs would even be allowed to vote, have no guarantee of a reasonable wage, no guarantee of medical treatment, social safety net or fair employment laws. Really, that's all you need to know. Why should you vote for a party who opposed every measure that makes your life remotely liveable now? You must really hate immigrants.

He insists he is ‘fairly relaxed’ about gays, but maintains homophobia does not exist and accuses ‘strident’ gay rights groups of using it for political ends.

Helmer says the NHS should be allowed to spend money on helping homosexuals become straight. He says it is no different to NHS sex-change operations and, bizarrely, compares it to homeopathy.

The European Commission has called on the UK to raise taxes on higher value properties, build more houses and adjust the Help to Buy scheme.

The commission said council tax bands should be revalued, which would put up bills for some people.

Each year the commission offers member states advice intended to help ensure long-term growth.

The Treasury said that as one of the fastest growing economies, would listen to the commission with interest.

On housing, the commission urged ministers to "deploy appropriate measures to respond to the rapid increases in property prices in areas that account for a substantial share of economic growth in the United Kingdom, particularly London".

The three-year Help to Buy mortgage guarantee scheme, announced in the 2013 Budget, is designed to make it easier for people to get on the housing market.

Some housing experts have expressed concerns the scheme has contributed to double-digit prices rises seen in London and other property hotspots over the past year, pushing properties further out of the reach of first-time buyers.

I don't agree with people living in higher value properties paying higher council tax. Council tax is about paying for local services, not a punishment for having a high value property - especially as you have no control over its value.

Good of them to advise building more houses. Vital insight.
