Who does he think he is? Tony Blair?

The worst possible outcome to all of this would be to have NATO and Russian troops shooting at each other.

It must never happen, ever! The consequences of it do not bear thinking about.

This is a 100% true- but rather than starting a new petition from scratch I thought it better to advertise an existing petition broadly on the same lines if at least in spirit.

Oh mate, that was absolutely not intended as a dig. I was just more musing at what the government should also be doing. I’ve signed the petition. Thanks for sharing it.

Sorry- I didn't take it as a dig, but I did go through the thought process of maybe it's better to start a new petition for something like artillery shell production, before deciding don't let perfect be the enemy of better, as 50 petitions with 100 votes each helps no one.

In a result more shocking than Man U beating Liverpool, it looks like Putin has won the Russian presidential election.

Gunfire and blaze at Moscow concert hall, reports say

Deaths and injuries have been reported after a gun attack at a concert hall near Moscow, Russian media say.
At least three people dressed in camouflage opened fire leaving people wounded at the Crocus City Hall, Russian news agencies reported.
Video obtained by Reuters news agency shows a large blaze and smoke rising from the hall.
Police are at the scene, reports Russia's state news agency RIA, adding that gunmen started a fire in the building.

Even if this is entirely a Russian based attack I suspect it will get blamed on Ukraine and the west.

There’s an awful lot of horrific videos on twitter already showing the shootings.

It's definitely a false flag. The US knew it was coming, just got the date wrong

Even if it isn't a false flag, I can't see what serious complaints Russia can have. They have invaded and killed thousands of Ukrainians.

It's not the first time this sort of thing has happened there either, there was the theatre siege in 2002, and a couple of years later there was Beslan.

It's probably not Ukraine who's behind this (doesn't fit with their tactics), and there are plenty of other groups who could carry out such an attack.

Oh it’s definitely not going to be Ukraine behind this. No way would they target random civilians like this. It’s undoubtedly a Russian attack, likely people rebelling against the state as opposed to a false flag imo.

Might not be a false flag though mind, there are still plenty of groups who would like to attack Russia in this way (especially some of those found in the caucausus region who are quite capable of mounting such an operation).

There's also likely to be a lot of ex-wagner guys who are still pissed at Putin too.

If you wanted a good excuse to up the ante on Ukraine, this would sure be it.

I don't see Russia doing a false flag. I also can't believe Ukraine would sanction something like this. Not sure if Zelensky has commented other than his denial, but it would go a long way if he condemned this kind of attack so I hope he does that, as should NATO. We have to be consistent and condemn all attacks against civilians.

I think we can be absolutely certain it's not a Ukrainian operation. And almost certainly not some Russian false flag operation either. My guess is that it is the Chechens or someone like that because it looks like a suicide mission.

Edit:

BBC live feed - Posted at 21:41 - Report: Islamic State claims responsibility

Reuters news agency is reporting that Islamic State have claimed responsibility for the attack on its Telegram channel.

The report has not been independently verified. The group, also known as ISIS, has carried out attacks in a number of countries, however BBC security correspondent Gordon Corera notes that the group has at times in the past claimed responsibility for attacks that it had nothing to do with.

On 7 March, Russia's Federal Security Service (FSB) said it prevented an attack on a synagogue in Moscow that was being planned by an Islamic State cell.

The FSB said attackers opened fire during the attempted arrest and were "neutralized by return fire", but few other details were given about the alleged plot.

Hi Rocsteady. Really? On what grounds? Very interesting development.

Edit: ought to qualify, I’m just unsure as to why Isis would have a specific beef with Russia. Seems an odd target compared to, say, the ‘free’ west. I think I’m somewhat relieved that they have claimed this though - difficult for Putin to pin it back on Ukraine thank goodness.
